Ward thrives on holding, and leaning. You can't hold and lean on someone you can't catch. Dirrell isn't going to just lay against the ropes either.

all good points. but hes never fought a guy who holds the type of physical advantages over him that dirrell does. and dirrell fighting another boxer, one not as big, strong or hard hitting as himself i think he will be much more comfortable in the ring. and with all thats at stake he will be highly motivated aswell.

idk if ward can outbox dirrell, i doubt it. if he tries to make it a physical fight he has to get inside first which will be hard given dirrells quicker feet, hands and longer reach.

ofcourse im inclined to just have faith in ward given the reason u posted. ward always rises to the occassion, hes mentally strong, determined and hes very intelligent. im not sure dirrell can get away with pulling straight back with his hands down, ward would feint then clock him. and im sure he would figure out a way to exploit all the other technical mistakes dirrell makes.

the wildcard in all this is that both are switch hitters, i cant recall too guys who can fight naturally in both stances and use both stances in each fight squaring of against eachother. it might favor ward whos the smarter fighter, or it could favor dirrell since those straight crosses from either side present a danger to ward if he doesnt see them as he comes in.

the fight is a toss up to me. i like both guys and is just excited to see them get it on, best matchup of the year imo. after dawson-pascal putting on such a great show im looking forward to it even more.

Have you watched his last two fights. That's what he does now, and has even said that's how he will fight from now on. Everyone has an opinion, don't get mad if it doesn't match yours. Don't make threads if you can't take criticism.
