Goossen suggests that no matter what happens at UFC 118, Couture should fight Toney under boxing rules after. This is, of course, silly for any number of reasons. First of all, Toney went to UFC and asked for a fight. Toney accepted Couture as an opponent. Couture has never said he's a good boxer. Toney, however, has said his boxing skills make him superior as a fighter to Couture. Fine, we'll find out.

A lot of this is that Dan Goossen knows once this is over, if Toney is embarrassed by Couture, he's going to have to figure out some way to market a 41-year-old heavyweight who hasn't had a major boxing fight in almost four years. Toney went to UFC and all but begged, which in Toneyland means insulting everyone until they give in. Now we're 10 days away from seeing him in the Octagon. If he's lucky, the publicity will result in him getting one more major fight in boxing, jolting a boxing career that was on life support before this all started.

Toney is a boxer. Cotoure's a wrestler. mma is the middle ground. You wouldnt see toney agree to a full on wrestling match with no striking. Why in the world would you want to see a fighter who's had very little experience boxing and doesnt even use boxing to win his mma matches in a boxing ring???

You're saying Toney isnt familiar with boxing at a distance and defending clinches??? You make it seem as if the fight starts on the ground which stacks the deck against Toney.

On the contrary...the fight starts at a standing position. A world where Toney is more than comfortable with and Couture is a fish out of water. A world where Ray mercer was able to knock out tim sylvia and idiot boxing fans were rejoicing in the supposed proof boxing > mma
