Pascal/Dawson matchup is similar to Mosley/Mayweather

Think about it, Mosley was considered to be pretty fast and he did surprise Floyd in the second with his fast hooks, it took Floyd time to get his timing down and get used to what was coming at him.


That's what's gonna happen tonight, Pascal is very Roy Jones-ian, not as overall good or fast BUT he will surprise Dawson with his quickness, maybe even catch him early and stun him or drop him. Dawson has seen nothing but 40 year old, slower reflex hands coming at him lately but eventually like Floyd, he will get used to the speed of Pascal, adjust and proceed to technically outbox him like Floyd did Mosley, to a UD.


But this is a interesting fight. Nothing that should be considered one-sided by any stretch.

Chad's combinations is what's going to set him apart in this match. IMO Pascal has to hurt Dawson to win, Chad doesnt need to hurt Pascal to win though.

dawson throws 6-8 punch combos with rapid speed and can pop..thats rare at higher weight classes..thats what seperates him from the rest

This fight will be a near shutout just like Mayweather-Mosley.

It wouldn't surpise me if Chad knocks Pascal out. People seem to think he has a good chin but I saw Pascal get rocked and nearly put down by a light hitting journeyman named Omar Pittman.

Yes Pascal took some shots from Froch, but nothing that he didn't see coming and couldn't roll with. Carl Froch doesn't exactly sneak up on you.

Dawson is going to be hitting Pascal with a 1,2... pivot to the side and when Pascal turns to find him he is gonna get nailed by 2 or 3 more punches.

Say what you want about Johnson and Tarver being old but they are very clever defensive fighters with styles that made Dawson look less than stellar.

I will be absolutely stunned if Pascal can beat Dawson.

This fight may be 3-1 in Dawson's favor but I see it as being more like 10-1 in reality.

Dawson is just way too good technically to get beat by a guy 3 inches shorter who does not excel in any one way.

Pascal does not have the raw aggression to unsettle Dawson, he doesn't have the one punch power to put him down and keep him down, and he lacks the speed and footwork to close the distance.

The money punch in this right will be Dawson's short quick hybrid hook he throws with the lead right hand. He is going to be picking Pascal off with it all night long and smashing home left hands behind it when Pascal starts to tire.
