Main reasons why Cotto is going to beat Chavez JR.

Ok guys, let's be clear about some things regarding this match-up.

    It's a mismatch.

Plain and simply, Chavez Jr's body is not going to handle that weight very well. I fear that he's going to be more in training for cutting down pounds than for actually being able to submit Cotto to his will. Chavez JR is more tall, and has a great reach, but he's just not ready to be swimming with a big fish like Cotto. Cotto should be fighting people like Berto, Williams...and maybe even go back to 147 and fight Amir Khan, now that would be a great blockbuster. But you people can't keep falling for these arumish stunts any longer. He's obviously just milking his own stable and not caring about the sport. Chavez JR has looked horrible fighting C- competition and now people are actually thinking he might beat Miguel?

Miguel is going to blast this kid to submission. Chavez JR is going to be a living corpse come fight-time and he won't be able to deal with Cotto's superior expertise and ring generalship. And people remember...he's going to be training with PACQUIAO. so he's not gonna get any attention that he obviously deserves in other to fight Miguel. I know Cotto isn't who he used to be, but he's still a force to be reckoned with if you find yourself in Chavez Jr's fighting stratosphere. Chavez might have some good rounds but he sure as hell is not making Miguel quit.

Oustanding. Agree 100%. People need to see through Arum's Top Rank exhibition fight BS and stop shelling out their hard earned money to reward him for it.

The fight will be a closer fight than you think f-22... Cotto has been in some wars where the kid hasn,t... If chavez uses his longer jab than it will be a long night for cotto...

I understand anything can happen Gorilla, but Chavez Jr is just not ready YET to be fighting against fighters like Miguel Cotto. Cotto doesn't really ever stop making a fight challenging, and I just dont see Chavez JR being able to handle Cotto over 12 rounds, he's taller but he still wont be able to not get hit by Cottos barrage.

He made 160 in just a 5 week training camp with Freddie Roach, I doubt it's going to be hard for him to make 154.

He is big, strong, takes a good shot, has a pretty good workrate, and seems to be progressing with Roach (he would've went life and death with Duddy if he hadn't), which is why he's being "thrown to the lions".

Cotto's defense is not good; he's been hit with 200+ power punches from good punchers (Margarito, Mosley, Clottey) and 300+ from Pacquiao. If JCC Jr. can walk him down and Cotto allows himself to be walked back, it's going to be a long night.

That said, JCC Jr.'s defense is even worse and he probably doesn't even do many situps, something that Cotto will test often. Roach is a great trainer, but he isn't a miracle worker. Cotto will win and make it look like target practice at times, just don't expect Jr. to lay down, he will make Cotto work for it, even if he doesn't win any rounds. Cotto KO10
