Comments Thread For: Elio Rojas To Have Hand Surgery, Still Wants Gamboa

According to reports in Santo Domingo, WBC featherweight champion Elio Rojas is scheduled to have surgery this weekend to remove a bone fragment from his right hand. Rojas was scheduled to fight Yuriorkis Gamboa on September 11. He withdrew with an injury. Gamboa will now fight IBF champion Orlando Salido. Rojas said the hand was first injured during a February defense against Guty Espadas.

He will and it will probably have to be in Mexico.

Both of those guys have looked pretty good so far and would make for a good fight.

This is a double edged sword for Rojas because Gamboa has some flaws that Rojas would have been able to exploit, but they're closing up quickly. The good thing about it is that he will face a better more proven version of Gamboa. If Rojas would've won, a lot of idiots would have discredited it by saying Gamboa never beat anyone.

I want to see Rojas-Lopez before that though. It's a better matchup and Rojas would give the kid hell.

Intriguing fight... I want to see it too. Hopefully, Rojas has a fast recovery from this surgery is able to get a tuneup and some fights with his new trainer before that.

It's a great thing that HBO is backing Caballero for another fight. He deserves it because if he didn't have their backing, he'd be ****ed as far as getting name fighters to fight him and getting paid what he deserves.

I guess I was a little hard on him, I actually thought he faked the injury because he wanted to adapt to Cunningham's methods. You can't really blame me though, everyone is using the injury excuse. You just never know anymore.

                    Hopefully all goes well
