Collazo Will Not Be Facing Dzinzurik......

WBO light middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 KOs) told *********.com that he’s planning to defend his belt against former WBA welterweight world champion Luis Collazo (30-4, 15 KOs) on October 2nd. Collazo, however, has released the following statement: “I will not be challenging WBO light middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 KOs) on October 2nd. I have not fought in more than a year. I would not take a fight of that maginitude after such a long layoff. I’m training very hard and I hope to get myself at least on tuneup fight and then a major fight at 154.” http://www.*********.com/Boxing/coll...ks-out-2-56302

I understand Collazo on this one, fighting coming off a layoff would be the opponent/journeyman thing to do.

That said, it's Don King's, his manager's, and his responsibility to have him ready for any possible fight that may come up. He won't get another HBO fight offer for at least this year, at least.

Thank you for the update. I'm okay with this fight not happening.

As much as I don't like and can't stand Berto, Collazo turned down that rematch too, but yet people say Berto ducked him without looking at the facts.

Good. Now maybe Dzinziruk can focus on real junior middleweights like Kermit Cintron, Vanes Martirosyan, or Dmitry Pirog.

Negative on Pirog...Shaw isn't going for that.

Pirog is a fairly large MW and now has a title there. Kermit or Vanes should be acceptable though, maybe Angulo or Foreman as well.
