This is tough. I tend to think that Floyd is just a better fighter and would have found a way to win, but Vernon is such a touch physical threat.

I'll say Floyd by questionable decision.

I have alway believe that Vernon Forrest would be the only guy to beat Mayweather in around WW in this era.

I see no way Floyd could have beaten Vernon. He was the ultimate bad style for him.

Fast forward a decade and Shane is a plodding power-puncher, blood-drained, roids drained... still almost KO'ed Floyd.

          What do you guys think?

Vernon wins every round en route to 10th round KO imo. Forrest also KOed Oscar in the amatures. Beat Shane 4 times.
So getting hit hard enough to where it's noticeable to spectators equals almost ko'd now? Gotcha. I swear you guys have unrealistic standards for Floyd. He's been boxing since the late 90's and all you guys cling to is two punches. TWO PUNCHES! And Floyd didn't even fall or stumble backwards...just a knee buckle. You guys are sad.

            Ez win for Forrest.

But Floyd would never fight someone like that.

He's not old, shot, small or drained.

He would've fell on his face if he hadn't held on to Shane for 2 minutes straight.

A shot, twitchy feinting no trigger pulling 38 year old almost khtfo.

The Viper was a damn good fighter I thought, and routed for him everytime, and had often said he "might" give Floyd problems. I think Floyd wins by split decision.
I am sure Verron was just not trying to sound like he was making excuses, but he was what 36? and I think he just had an off night, they happen more and more as fighters get older.

As we know he proved it was a fluke by easily beating Mora in a rematch.

Prime Vernon, Prime Delahoya beat Floyd @ 147 (given Floyd's absolute prime was before he weighed that much).

Prime shane at 140 or below.....vs. Prime Floyd at 140 and below....now that's a fight.

Every single fighter Floyd Mayweather ever fought below 140, Shane would KO and shorten their career.

Floyd hasn't fought big welterweights for a reason.

You're funny. You and I both know Floyd didn't spend 2 minutes holding on to Shane. I get it, you don't think highly of Floyd. That's fine, but don't lie to yourself over it.
