Okay, a reason for Mosley-Mora... Maybe I'm overthinking this

But it seems to me that MAYBE the reason for Shane Mosley fighting Sergio Mora is that, besides the obvious reason that he's not a real threat, Mosley never got over his two losses to Vernon Forrest, I remember him talking about wanting to face Forrest a third time.

Unfortunately, Vernon was killed. So I think that perhaps the reason Mosley is facing Sergio Mora is his own personal way to extract revenge: By beating the guy who defeated the guy who's had Mosley number since the amateurs. It kind of makes sense also when you consider him also fighting and knocking out Ricardo Mayorga, the guy who beat Forrest twice.

I think that's a good theory and I have been thinking the same thing.....also remember he fought Margarito who has just beaten Cotto who Shane has lost a close one to

Hell, you could even throw in him fighting Fernando Vargas who held a victory over Winky Wright.

Whoops, I didn't type that out right: I meant Mosley's way of extracting revenge was by beating Mora, who has defeated Vernon Forrest.

i think shane wants to gauge himself to see where he is against a decent opponent after taking mental & physical beating(i've never seen shane nervous to start a fight but maybe i'm wrong).

i think shane may surprise sum people

It's because Mosley's minimum is 2 million dollars and HBO isn't willing to pay him that kind of money unless it's against a top rated and popular opponent (i.e. Berto, Martinez).

GBP put 3 options on the table for him: Berto, Martinez, and Mora.

He decided not to fight Martinez so soon after the Mayweather loss without a tuneup at the higher weight first.

They negotiated with Berto, but Berto and DiBella wanted a 50-50 split and weren't budging because they would have made less money than the Quintana fight for a riskier opponent.

So they decided to fight Mora and knew HBO would not buy the fight and were going to have to take it to PPV.

That's why he's fighting Mora. We will probably be seeing Martinez-Mosley after this fight, if Mosley comes out the winner.

But Forrest beat Mora in their rematch though.

                Yep, that's what i thought

it should be a fairly easy fight for Shane, and he'll want to show the world he's still got it, and the mayweather fight went so badly because of the:
                - Ring Rust. Fighting a one dimensional guy like Marg, and then taking 18 months off at age 38/9 isn't a great idea
                - Bad style matchup. Mayweather's a great fighter, and he was always going to make Shane look bad unless Shane was at his best (and he wasn't)
                - Back to back training camps. Can't have been good for him at this age

Not making excuses, Mayweather would probably have beaten a younger Mosley, but Shane would have been competitive, and people wouldn't say he was shot afterwards

Expect him to go after Pac like crazy if he beats Mayweather if the fight ever happens
