At 31 years old, he probably wants the flexibility to be able to move around if he wanted rather than be tied to an obligation.

Its good for those guys at Super Middleweight because the higher weight classes get exposure. This tournament could help the lower weight classes gain more exposure, but there's definitely no guarantee that people will suddenly become interested in the bantamweight division

the super six tournament was created to build a fanbase for the unknown boxers of the 168 lbs division.

montiel doesn't need it, and neither does donaire. also darchinyan doesn't need it either. I dunno why he would sign up for it.

Im sorry, but these high strung bantamweights are ******ed. Lets face it, not many people care about such a low weight class to begin with, and a tournameant not only brings attention to the weight class, but gives the promoters an excuse to make the bantamweights the main attraction.

for them to pass up a chance like this is not only dumb, its selfish for the other guys that actually would like to participate.

Montiel is full of ****!!! Morel has been the #1 contender & his madatory for a very, very long time & Montiel has been avoiding him & the only way & the only time Montiel decided to fight Morel was if the fight was in his(Montiel's) home country(Mexico) & on top of that if he(Montiel) would get 80% of the purse!!!! After Morel accepted he pulled out with a mysterous injury, probably the same mysterous injury's Montiel suffered when he pulled out to fight Morel twice!!! The only diference is that the fights Montiel pulled out were in neutral grounds & Morel was getting a bettet % of the purse!!!

This is a fantastic idea and post but sadly it's for naught my friend. Notice none of the SMW Super 6 fighters are promoted by Bob Arum. He likes his fights in house and doesn't change that unless there is big money involved.

Well I can see your point but that is why I said they should start it in April. After Montiel and Donaire fight what other in house fights can Arum make. I could see Donaire vs WV2 but that's it. Also all the other bantams would be in the tourney and I know the fight Montiel wants more than any other is Vic Darchinyan.

FWIW Donaire said the only way he won't enter is if Montiel doesn't. I'm certain he is saying that because he doesn't want to jeopardize his big fight with him this fall but again starting it next year gives him that fight and a shot at all the other top bantamweights.
