heat check for Khan vs Urango

There's no luck to it...
Resume and ability are not the same thing.
Floyd Patterson was considered the heavyweight champion before the Liston fight, and everyone expected him to get blown to bits. He was still the champ though, and you can't take that position away from him.
Same with Khan. You might be right that someone is going to shatter his chin again, but... until it happens, he has earned AT LEAST the #3 spot in the division.Comment

Urango/Khan would be an interesting fight a credible fight un like pretty well all Khan's fights. I don't see Khan taking Urango lightly. I get the feeling Alexander was looking past Kotelnik and this contributed to the poor performance. This can be very dangerous and many great careers have been derailed with this kind of thinking. Don Curry was thinking about a mega fight with Hagler when he took on a keep busy fight with Honeyghan . Pavlik was thinking past Hopkins with the mega Abrahams fight in mind. I can't see Team Khan taking Urango lightly in fact I don't see them taking the fight because he presents too much of a risk.
Team Khan and GBP have a problem he is a star already without ever having to go through really tough tests and great fights to achieve that status. The economics mean he is destined to be protected. Much as I dislike it in business terms why take risks if you don't have to?
well said bro
thats why I give credit to Alexander for taking this fight against Kotelnik even tho he was not the best match up for himComment

I can see Khan KOing Urango, maybe due to the fact that it's been done before and Khan can ****. Accumulated damage during a round, or maybe throughout the fight, but my head is telling me if Khan were to win, it would be a decision.
On the other hand, Urango can DEFINITELY KO Khan, one shot and BOOM it's all over. If Urango were to win, it would be a one, maybe two, shot KO.
If it goes to the score cards, at best, I can see 117-111 for Khan, at worst a Draw.
Final Pick?...Khan boxing defensively from the outside, avoiding Urango's wide shots for a 116-112 decision. Early rounds will be nervous for the Pro-Khan crowd until Roach/Khan are able to pick apart Urango's patterns. Basic cat-and-mouse game with Khan's accuracy winning over. Again though...one, maybe two flush shots...and it's over.Comment

Barrera was a step up in experience, though he was past his prime and received a NASTY cut very early in the bout which I think effected the bout
Kotelnik was a step up in class and was thoroughly out-boxed
Salita.....well........he..........yeah........... Salita was a step down
What Khan has been avoiding is a step up in POWER, the Prescott bout has had him shook. This bout would do him some good and establishing the fact that he can fight against big punchers.Comment

Who has Khan fought that is dangerous? Urango would be Khan's most dangerous opponent since Prescott. You may think it is a step down fight but I am waiting in vain for his first step up fight.Comment
