Alexander probably did enough to win the first 3 rounds. However after the third round it was mostly Kotelnik landing clean and crisp punches. Alexander was hitting the air with most of his shots, and unable to penetrate Kotelnik's tight defence.

A fair score is 7-5 to Kotelnik. However a 6-6 draw while unfair on the Ukrainian wouldn't have been out of the question due to some close rounds and Alexander's quick start.

But Alexander winning? No way. Alexander winning on all three judges scorecards 116-112 was an absolute travesty.

i can understand some of your posts about kotelnik's workrate, but it's not like he was running all fight, just more economical.
Kotelnik is very durable and has a solid chin.

He has been in the ring now with imo, the 3 biggest punchers at 140, Devon, Khan and Maidana and he was never hurt in either of those fights.

He is a solid opponent. Devon flooded Kotelnik with superior workrate, lateral movement.

Kotelnik won the majority of the last few rounds but that was due to Devon's cut being a more prominent factor as the fight wore on.

Steelhammer is a racist idiot who doesn't know **** about boxing.

          Workrate, yes.

          Lateral movement? Not so much...

This is a very good post. I had it a draw as well on the second time. Kotelnik really put it on Devon in the championship rounds which says a lot about Kotelnik.

Alexander was missing all night, he was just off. Any close score is understandable but I have no idea what ***n fight lederman was watching.

I was surprised to see Alexander so ****** up looking.

Alexander wasn't just flat, he wasn't able to follow his gameplan. This slickness wasn't there and he wasn't able to get the uppercut off on Andriy.
He wanted to fight and I think the hometown excitement got to him cuz he was getting busted up in the last 2 rounds. Plus he was off all night accuracy-wise. He was just missing and I know Kotelnik has denect head movement, but he's no defensive wizard.

I wouldn't say Alexander was exposed, I would say that everyone came back to reality. There's no shame in squeaking by Kotelnik as a young fighter, but I don't think he's ready for Bradley or Khan or MAidana yet. He needs a few more fights. How bout Peterson or a rematch?

It wasn't so much that he wasn't accurate, as it was he was punching AT Kotelnik's guard.. instead of through it.

I watched the replay last night, and honestly think Kotelnik won.

I disagree, Devon's footwork and movement yesterday were brilliant.

agreed, I think it was a one point fight, the scorecards were atrocious
