MANNY Calls Out FLOYD: Is he Dissatisfied With Margarito As An Opponent?

Manny is calling out Mayweather - on August 8th. Fully three weeks after the July 16th deadline. Does this signal Manny's dissatisfaction with Margarito as an opponent?

I wouldn't blame him. A Margarito fight is a joke. Everybody sees that.

But if they are still pursuing Floyd THREE WEEKS after "the deadline", then why did they set a deadline in the first place?

We are exactly three months from the fight date. Is Top Rank still holding out hope?

"People have asked me does [the deadline] mean the Mayweather fight is dead," Arum said on a media conference call that began moments after the countdown clock on Top Rank's website struck zero. "Even though Mayweather hasn't responded by the deadline my answer is a simple one -- it's dead when we conclude a deal with an opponent for Manny to fight. ... And then we would look to do a fight with Floyd next year. In the interim, while this is going on, if Floyd suddenly emerged we would not be opposed to doing the fight. While these negotiations are going on [with Cotto and Margarito], if Floyd came to the table, that's the fight we want more than all others."

Not only did Arum leave the door open to Mayweather to still accept the fight in the next 10 days or so -- the length of time Arum figured it would take him to make a deal with Cotto or Margarito -- but he was also conciliatory toward a fighter he has had raging public feuds with since their promotional agreement ended on a sour note several years ago.

June 30th: There is a deadline of July 16th.

July 18th: Did I say deadline? We can still make the fight in the next ten days.

August 8th: C'mon, Floyd. We can still make the fight.

Can you see why this erodes Pac's credibility and position?

All this does is help Manny win the PR battle. Smart move and hats off to team Pacquiao.

To me it seems like Pac is the only one that is showing any interest in the fight while Floyd is scrambling to save face.

Pac could get on his knees and ask Floyd for a fight and I'll still have more respect for him than the self-proclaimed "GOAT"

manny has already won the PR battle.

The question is: of what value is the PR battle? Sun Tzu said not to fight battles that were meaningless.

Yeah. But you would still have more respect for Pac even if Floyd lights him up in the ring.

                  You're just built like that.
