    My Take On Amir Khan

The 140 pound division, also known as the Junior Welterweight division. Upcoming rising stars in Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, Marcos Madiana, and Victor Ortiz. You also have the veterans in Demarcus "Chop Chop" Corley, Nate Campbell and always bad, fast, dangerous, Zab Judah. One of the most talented divisions in all of boxing. It has been years since a division has been this packed with all around talent. The last time a division had this many stars in it was the Heavyweight division.

Each of these fighters have skills but some, lack heart, determination and courage. We have the young man from Bolton, England. As they say in boxing, you not only need skills but you also need looks. Amir Khan has that. Has the good looks and the skill. But what is skill without being tested? What is a champion without being tested? Khan has been avoiding his mandatory in Marcos Madiana for several months and has been chasing lightweight legend, Juan Manuel Marquez. This would make an excellent fight but would it make boxing fans give him the respect he deserves? Would it make his fanbase grow or would it continue to spew hate on this well gifted athlete?

Amir Khan needs to realize, in order to be a champion in boxing fan eyes, not just casual fans eyes, you have to fight the BEST in your division. If your going to hold a title at 140 and defend it against people at 135, you are not a true champion, especially fighting, fighters on the decline. If Amir Khan wants a fan base, a true fan base here in North America, he needs to fight the best. Fight his mandatory, fight top contenders, not fighters that are declining with age. Not every fighter is Bernard Hopkins and I am glad there isn't a lot of Bernard Hopkins because then there wouldn't be fights made.

To be the best, you have to fight the best and in my eyes, I don't see a true champion in Amir Khan. Many of you may agree, many of you may disagree. Many of you may call me a hater, many of you may say, your right and I totally agree. Until Amir Khan fights top contenders in his division, he will only be well known amongst women who don't know much about boxing and people within his own culture. Until next time......... Well written post.

I agree that for boxing fans, he should fight Madaina and win.

For casual fans, thewy will know JMM more than Madaina IMO.

you're acting like Amir is the only one who fights for money. All professional fighters do and they do some rediculous things to avoid small fights and go for the big fights with the most money. This is Boxing. If you don't like it go watch amatuer Boxing (Amir is an Olympic silver medalist by the way and he didnt get that by avoiding everybody.....)
Amir is the best in the 140 lb division. NO DOUBT.
