One thing is clear -- if you dont know about a fighter, does not mean he is a bum

In light of the events of the last couple of weeks, I think it is fair to say that underestimating a fighter because your local promotion company has brought him as a fall guy for their rising star is a huge NO-NO.

I think it is fair to say that threads like "Local Star X will completely oblitirate and knock out this Eurobum" should be avoided, as they will come back to bite you in the ass.

I used "I think it is fair to say" twice in one post, what an embarassment

        hindsight is a wonderful thing

But yhe, you're right. A lot of guys are dismissed if they've got one or two losses or aren't well known

On here anyone with more than 3 losses is a bum or if you have never seen them fight they are soft opposition for a "star" until proven otherwise.

He was a previous champion, and all of his losses are to guys who have held world titles.

            Obviously not a bum.

Euro fighters are so wildly underrated by everyone on here.

People use a lot of hyperbole when describing fighters.

Just because a guy hasn't done X means he can not do it (or if they have no clue if he can do X or not), I see a lot of that faulty thinking around here.

People also fail to take into account both guys are trying to win so even if someone is taking the opposition lightly that guy still has abilities and pride (not to mention an oppurtunity to move beyond the realm they are currently in) so a guy not looking awesome in every fight is to be expected even against a lightly regarded opponent, sometimes it is just best to win by any fashion and move on.

This is true. Everyone assumes that champions over there only fight part time boxers and taxi drivers.

Boxing is so spread out that it's very hard to judge until you see someone yourself.

But that's also what makes boxing unique, we don't always have a clue and get surprises.
