Comments Thread For: Tavoris Cloud Decisions Glen Johnson Over Twelve

Scottrade Center, St. Louis - In a very active fight, Tavoris Cloud (21-0, 18KOs) retained the JBF light heavyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over former champion and veteran Glen Johnson (50-14-2, 34KOs). The fight had action from start to finish, but Cloud had more steam on his shots at the end. Johnson at times was able to steal rounds with big spurts coming in the final thirty seconds of certain rounds. Cloud was able to keep the title around his waist by preventing Johnson from stealing the championship rounds with an outworking swarm.

Tough tough fight, lot of Rounds could have been scored either way.As much as I don't like a draw, i could hav seen it is a draw as well.

Close fight. If I go by a round by round basis as far as scoring goes, I got Johnson winning it 115-113. But Cloud had that one big round and it seemed like a lot of his punches were a lot more crisper than Johnson's. And I think it's possible you could even give him a 10-8 round in that one round of where he hurt Johnson, so it's subjective I guess. Now that I've had time to take it in I don't think Johnson was robbed blind like I said earlier. But 116-112? WTF?

I thought Cloud pulled the fight out in the last three rounds and I scored the fight 115-113 for him. But he better get himself in better shape so he won't punch himself out in every other round.

Cloud needs to learn how to turn his fighter, would have made for a better fight. Dawson will hurt him.

on a side note max kellerman sucks so damn bad at interviews!!!

i had johnson winning the fight, 115-113. i thought cloud got out worked and wasted a lot of punches, although it looked good on the surface when you looked closely a lot, basically the majority of his combo's were picked off or never broke through johnsons guard, some did and when they did they were good, but for the most part, on a purely academic scoring system johnson shou'd've won that fight and be champ again.......

clouds body language and even himself all but said he lost the fight to johnson. even when johnson said " i beat you " cloud didn't have anything to say and when he did, it wasn't the most compelling of arguments, " i landed flashier shots " (paraphrashing) all the while johnson out worked him and took the fight to him, which i think coud wasn't quite ready for.

That was a good fight. I had Cloud winning by a point or possibly two.

Good learning experience for him too. I think his obvious problem is the long stretches of times of inactivity, that's the only reason he really loses rounds. Likely he's saving energy because he uses so much of it when he goes on his murderous flurries. I never really seen Glen Johnson get shook like that, there were moments when Cloud was tossing him around like a rag doll.

Glen Johnson is a machine though, he's like the terminator the guy cannot be stopped.
