My Thoughts on Floyd vs Winky

This will be long but worth it

I think this fight will actually happened because both fighters are at the height of the careers with 2 big blow out wins on there first PPV headliner. They both say they only want big fights at this point and they want to be on PPV. Hopkins just lost and will probally have a rematch with Taylor. Ouma just lost and Varas, Quartey, and Oscar dont want to fight Wright. Forrest is just coming back so Winky has no fights.

Cotto isnt ready, Hatton doesnt want the fight yet and he aleady beat Chico and Castillo. King wants options on Floyd for the Zab fight and you know Floyd isnt that dumb. Shane wants more money and a tuneup 1st. The only fight for Floyd is Margarito and Floyd shrugged at that one like he doesnt think Margarito is any threat or that it would be a big PPV fight.

Winky and Floyd are really all they have right now. I made a thread a week or 2 ago about could we have a old style #4# fight. I meant old style because you would actually have the 2 best guys in the world but one is much smaller. I actually believe that Floyd should probally still be at 135 but his talent is so great that he can fight bigger guys.

Almost everyone said that Floyd would struggle at 140 and his very max weight would be 147 with "maybe" 1 or 2 fights at 154 at the very end of hi career in his mid 30's. No one except for me believed him when he was t 135 and said that he would jump straight to 154 to fight Oscar but he wouldnt fight Floyd. Floyd was serious then and he;s serious now.

Now lets move to the fight. I believe Winky should be favored but I yhink Floyd will win. Some say Winky will have Floyd running but how? He doesnt fight that way and he doesnt have Tito power. 2nd is Winky will always leave you in the fight. Most times he clearly wins but doesnt blow guys away. He also takes off rounds sometimes and doesnt let his hands go. 3rd is when is the last time Winky fought a pure boxer? The only one that was close was Vargas and he lost even though he may have won. Shane came right at him. Floyd wont do that and when he does he will have much better movement and defense. Floyd would present alot of problems for Winky that he hasnt seen. Agaisn he should be favored but Floyd could win

I agree, I think Mayweather would win also. My main question is how would Mayweather fight a fight against him? What would be his gameplan? This is a guy [Winky] who can box and is probably too big for Mayweather to stay inside with (even though he doesn't have power) but what kind of Mayweather would we see in the ring against Wright is my question, and will the way he chooses to fight Wright be effective.

He will have to use alot of movement and flurries against Wright.

I really don't think he'd have to change his style much at all. His speed would neutalize the advantage Winky gets from his jab. He could get around it, get a few shots in and be out of there before Winky could set up a shot on the inside. Floyd's handspeed would ensure that he could score enough while he was in there.

Good post, DLT, btw. What I find funny is that people keep talking about how Trinidad could only beat made to order opponents without thinking that the same might be true about Winky. I think he's a great fighter, but Mosley and Tito were perfect opponents for him.

Mayweather weighted in at 139.5 in the Gatti fight. DO you seriously think that he can move up to 154 and fight Winky? I think this is a publicity stunt from both fighters.

They are going to probably end up fighting on the same ppv card and that will be the end of it. This will just add some spark to the promotion.

Id like to see this fight happen cause i think PBF has a real good shot in winning this fight. It would be a big jump , totally skipping over 147 and go straight to 154. If PBF maintains his speed and stamina, he could win this fight . On talent alone he has the advantage. But we all know talent alone doesnt win fights.
