Something Just Doesn't Sit Right With Floyd's Demand Of OST

The most important argument Mayweather made for why there should be OST in the sport of boxing is to uphold the sport's integrity and set it apart from other sports who have had issues with rampant usage of illegal performing enhancement drugs. This ethical, heroic and progressive mind state, however, is not something that is cultivated overnight. To have such concern for the integrity and morality of the sport, Floyd would have had to have been growing frustrated with the lack of proper testing, the type of testing that could detected the undetectable. Floyd would have had to have been growing concerned with possibly countless fighters cheated out of a victory by possible PED users. Also, the other main point is that he wants a even playing field which is understandable. How is it fair to fight someone who might have an un-natural advantage over you?

Here's what I'm having an issue understanding.

Floyd has had 41 professional fights. A career that spans 14 years. Throughout these 14 years, there have been countless fighters who have tested for banned substances: Fighters like Fernando Vargas who tested positive for steroids after his fight with De La Hoya, Roy Jones Jr who tested positive for androstenedione after the Hall victory, and James Toney who tested positive for Nandrolone after his bout with John Ruiz.

Those are high profile names so its not like these incidents went under the boxing radar. They made waves throughout the boxing community. So when these incidents were occurring, Why didn't the idea to become a crusader for justice and morality for the boxing community burn bright in the mind of Floyd Mayweather Jr. earlier in his career and not now when Manny Pacquiao appears as a threat? If the possibility of fighters taking PED's high in the boxing world, why was he not requesting OST in the past?

But no, in his 14th year of his pro career, after his 40th fight, Mayweather proclaims his stance on the lack of proper testing in Boxing. What is interesting is that Mayweather didn't include this train of thought as part of his comeback. He never once mentioned of this crusade during his retirement nor did even even require this type of testing for his first fight from retirement, Juan Manuel Marquez.

Funny thing about that Marquez fight. Marquez requests a fight with Mayweather. Mayweather obliges. Fight set. Only one problem: Mayweather fights at 147 lbs and Marquez has never fought past the 135 LBS Lightweight division. So an agreement is made to meet at 144LBS. A catchweight that Mayweather doesn't meet coming in at 146 lbs, but thats an issue for another day. Marquez, already a small lightweight, has to gain a good amount of weight to fight Mayweather. He obviously has to improve in speed and power. He has to be comfortable at this weight. [b]So here you have a fighter that would have all the motive to enhance his performance by taking illegal substances, but Floyd Mayweather, the beacon of morality and justice in boxing, doesn't request OST for the fight? A fight with such importance for boxing, so much so, that it is billed "Number One / Numero Uno: The fight for pound for pound supremacy".

I mean, it appears that the lack of OST was never an issue for Floyd in the past even though high profile names were caught using PEDS. And when Floyd had an opponent who had a motive to use PED's, Marquez who had to move up 2 divisions to fight Floyd, OST's or PEDs weren't even an issue.

So after 14 years, 40 fights, why now?

This is exactly what i've been saying and many other fans in the begining have been saying all along when Floyd first brought up the OST. Why now, why with Manny. The obvious reasons would be that they honestly think Manny is taking PED's and it is obvious as well that they're accusing Manny, there's no two ways about that. That being said, Manny does look guilty for not agreeing to it in the begining and it doesn't help his case either. Regardless, Floyd does look like he's just completely avoiding Manny, especially now.

Floyds daddy starting spewing **** about steroids. Manny's a southpaw, floyds daddy got scared.

It's pretty easy to see that Floyd's camp (led by sr.) conspired to slander Manny's good name to make the fight as difficult to make as possible. Their su****ion that he actually might be using steroids is justifiable. What isn't justifiable is the disrespectful and demeaning way they went about it. It was simply a bitchass move.

Floyd may have wanted the fight, as did Manny (they both made concessions). But Floyd's camp destroyed negotiations before they began, when they accused a fighter with a good image of cheating his way to greatness.

Floyd Snr thought Mannys win over Cotto was suspect.

Floyd then wants Pac to take tests.

He only then says he wants to clean up the sport.



So really the 'cleaning up the sport' thing is more about Floyd suspecting Pac, because pac seemed superhuman against Cotto, and Floyd saw an oppertunity to piss Pac off by demanding tests.
Unfortunatly it ****ed up the negotiations and now theres no fight.

Theyre both to blame.

If this fight ever comes off, I hope one party wipes out the other, so half the people on this board can **** off and shutup.

The two fighter's legion of jealous boyfriends are ****ing annoying, so at least half would have to **** the **** off.

Maybe the thought of cleaning up the sport dawned on him during the negotiations with Pacquiao.

Maybe Pacquiao would be the first boxer to fight Mayweather, whom Mayweather truly believed was on something, and because of which, actually threaten the 0 on his record?

Maybe his previous 40 opponents, against whom he did not demand OST, didn't give him a reason to be su****ious?

BOTH fighters made concessions, and they both at least budged a little. Floyd's final offer was reasonable, seeing as how Manny ultimately ended up accepting it.


Sr. and floyd's camp destroyed negotiations before they began by insulting and baselessly accusing a good fighter of cheating.

Sr. doesn't like Southpaws. Sr. probably doesn't like asians. Sr. doesn't like "midgets". Sr. doesn't like losing (Hoya, Hatton). He did absolutely everything in his power to make the fight impossible, and it worked.
