Cuz in Russia not TV bosses pay money to boxers but, oppositely, boxers should pay to TV chiefs in order to see their fight televised... Only fighters Russian TV is interested in are K2...

I don't want to be a pessimist but none (n-o-n-e) of last year championship's fights with Russian fighters taking their part in (not to speak about this year's Roman's great effort) were shown by top Russian TV channels even on delayed basis. That speaks for itself in my opinion...

Even, Ibragimov-Holyfield 2007 fight was short-circuited - they started broadcast from round four...

Seems like BHOP continues to show his true "colors".

Some really knownledgable and insightful post here. I was a fan of Pirog before and am one even more now. The guy seems intelligent and well informed about what's going on in boxing internationally. Can't wait for his next fight and hope all real boxing fans appreciate the kind of amazing fighter he is. The sweet science in its pure beauty, even if I repeat myself.

Thanks for posting the interview. Here are some points:

Pirog said he want to fight Pavlik, Williams, or Martinez next. He thinks Pavlik can be crushed because of his come-forward style. He also thinks Williams and Martinez are beatable.

He also said that he would rather fight in Russia for very little money than abroad for a lot of money - Mayweather and Diva Gaye take note, it's not all about the money.

Diva Gaye came to congratulate him after the fight. I guess he is no longer pregnant, maybe now he can answer Wlad.

Pirog thinks it's harder to fight European fighters because they are more technical. He thinks US fighters are more sloppy and take too much risk to please the crowd but that's why they are easier to beat.

Yesterday a specifically designed presser was held at a conference hall of D-Hotel to greet Russia’s only reigning champion and to ask him questions on his present, past and future. Accompanying Pirog were also his Russian promoter Kirill Pchelnikov (Pirog, a manager himself, is co-promoted by Pchelinkov’s PUSHKA Promotions, German Titov Boxing Promotions and Art Pellulo’s Banner Promotions) and his head coach Vyacheslav Nepogodin. Attending the presser were a number of well-known Russian boxing personalities, including Vladimir Hryunov and PBFR’s officials. Here is a full transcript of the presser, which is slightly edited to group resembling questions into the same group.
