Yea, that's how Williams vs. Clottey would go. Clottey would have his moments, but he would get beat on in his shell for too long in every round. He'd probably get shut out.
And Williams would probably break Margarito's compubox record, who came against.......that's right, Clottey.Comment

I like how Margarito is a one dimensional punching bag when its convenient, and one of the best WW's that proves Cotto is fearless when its convenient.
I just lol' at it and get on with my day.

The reason I give Cotto a chance is because Williams doesn't utilize his reach to his advantage. Someone like Quintana shouldn't have beat him the way he did and granted Williams did avenge his loss, but watching the Martinez fight he was making the same exact mistakes he made against Quintana (who's around Cotto's height give or take). The problem with Cotto is his wear and tear these days. Back a few yrs ago Cotto could take a lickin and keep coming. Now, and I'm a Cotto fan through and through, but I don't think he can take the type of punishment he took even in the Clottey fight and Williams volume punching can definitely be a cause for concern. The thing with Williams is what you see is what you get. He like to throw a lot, but makes a lot of defensive mistakes that someone with Cotto's experience can open up. I'd favor Williams if they fought, but wouldn't be totally shocked to see Cotto win.Last edited by RL_GMA; 08-05-2010, 11:02 AM.Comment

Umm....After Urkal he fought Judah....followed by Mosley. Williams was nobody until he beat Tony. Can't blame Cotto for fighting Judah and Mosley.
After Cotto beat Shane, Arum wanted Cotto-Margarito. So Cotto took a tuneup and fought Margarito. Again, can't blame him for that.
After getting destroyed by Margarito he too a tuneup and fought Clottey then Pacquiao. I mean seriously, what do you want from the guy. If ever there was someone who had legit reasons for not fighting Williams it's Cotto.
Your acting like there was all this time and oppurtunity. If you actually map out the timeline. the stars just never aligned for that fight. No one ducked anyone, it just didn't work out.Comment

Well, he was a punching bag. A feared punching bag, and now we know why. It (plaster) had nothing (loaded gloves) to do with (cheater) giving himself an illegal edge (plaster), it's his conditioning (bull****) and unbelievable ability to take a punch and his (plaster) talent for delivering bombs. The man is truly a (criminal) legend.Comment
