i actually agree with you, and it could also be a pretty good fight.

but the fight doesnt make any more sense to me

I'm actually not even a Mora hater, and i even think he is a little underrated. But jesus what happend to the days when u had to do something to earn a fight against a legend like Mosley.

And Angulo is a Gary Shaw fighter but that fight still wouldnt be easy to make but they didnt even try. Angulo would have taken that fight for PEANUTS and why wouldnt he? A win over Mosley garuntees him like 5 years on HBO and millions and millions of dollars.
People still remember Mora, Mosley is commingnoff a devestating loss and was never a huge ticket seller even in his hometown. They have to be creative and that is what they are trying to do with this fight.

Besides why would they want someone else to use Shane to possibly build up one of their guys, there is no good reason to use Shane in a fight like that comming off the beating he took unless they are selling Shane out.

To me they are doing right by both their guys.

The sad thing is that they are going against Juanma vs Marquez(wich is a better fight) plus in regular showtime.

I agree that Shane was never a ticket seller but Mora hasnt sold a seat by himself in years.

And Sure Goldenboy is going to make money by keeping this thing in house but its still a problem. AND they could have made more money with several other excellent options.

They decided to go with this Mexican Independence theme for no reason. It's unneccesary. These ads im watching are portraying Mosley as the villian and Mora as the Hero on TOP of this Mexican theme.

Its just overkill. They could have had him fight someone like Berto and gotten HBO to overpay millions for it like they always do, and avoid the PPV debacle thats almost certainly going to fail miserably.

Just because you have the Mexican Independance day date doesnt mean you need to use it

They need to use everything at their disposal to sell this fight and even though Shane is a known star if he can't pull viewers they need to find a way. Trying to play up the mexican part of the card is a very simple way of doing that, not to mention the date the card is on.

I think Canelo does move the needle in the Mexican (Mexican-American) community which is the market they are trying to tap into.

What's inexplicable is the fact that it's on pay-per-view.

The winner of tht fight is in solid position to do something bigger, that is why I don't mind the fight.

This could be an interesting fight though imo, Mora, if nothing else, has a very herky jerky style and uses lots of feints, thats what gave Forrest so much trouble in the first fight, that and the fact Forrest was not 100%, Mosley really is starting to slow down to, his performances, as seems to be the case with all aged fighters, are starting to go up and down, so i would not be shocked to see Mora give him some issues in the fight, Mosley's reflexes are shot imo, his stamina seems to have gone to.

De le Hoya fought a pretender after losing to Mayweather too in Forbes. Its a smart move.

Look, Shane is 37/38 and just got shut out by the best, why would he go and take another hard fight? I would take a soft touch that could be some sort of a sell if I was in his shoes. Maximize longevity.
