You know I made a thread the other day, and while I got blasted, I still stand 100% behind my comment. Whenever your building a fighter you have to understand where you fighter is development wise and what things he needs to work on. Then you match him accordingly. This takes a lot of knowledge of the sport as well as good scouting of opponents (to help find the right guys to give your young prospect the right looks). I like GBP but for the amount of knowledgeable boxers who help promote, they truly fail in this area.

while Frankie style is more exciting...I think Jose has a chance to develop into a good OVERALL BOXER and not just some typical one-dimensional "can only fight coming forward" type of fighter

I agree with another post that says Frankie will lose first, that is so true because Frankie style while exciting, against an opponent with fast hands he could have problems. Jose is a lot more patient and fights more under controll

yes Jose is more polished...and you can make a solid argument that he's the overall better boxer

but as some have stated, Frankie is very exciting and the question was; who becomes a bigger star?

I know a lot of his first few fights are being used to get him adjusted to the pro ranks but in a few more fights I would like to see Frankie matched against some taller rangy guys with good jabs (due to Frankie leading wide most of the time he fights) and with Benevidez I hope he faces some body punchers and physical opponents. I say this because I think these are the types of opponents that will give the most trouble later on down the road. Again their trainers know what their weaknesses as fighters and what they need to work on to improve overall, but this is what I have seen so far from a fan's perspective.

And this is why matchmaking now is so critical. If I'm his trainer or matchmaker and see this (fast hands giving him issues), I would look for D and C class opponents that would help him in this area. If there isn't enough confidence to match him just yet in the ring....then do so in sparring (bringing those type of fighters in) until they feel facing guys like this isn't an issue.

The one that doesn't become like ODLH and is at least more Mexican than trying to be American.
