According to the Ventura County Star, Joseph Louis Pecora, a former business manager of Fernando Vargas, has been arrested by the Ventura County Sherriff's Dept. on su****ion of stealing from the former IBF and WBA juniour middleweight titleholder. Pecora had access to Vargas; vank accounts while working for the boxer. "He was involved in the grand theft and forgery of one or more of those accounts, and after an extensive investigation, we have probable cause to arrest for those charges," said Sheriff Captian Rick Barrios. Vargas' attorney said that Pecora worked with Vargas from the late 90's until about 2 or 3 years ago when the boxer discovered he had no money in the bank. Ramirez alleges that Pecora pocketed about 400,000, which, when added to his alleged mismanagement of Vargas financial affairs cost the fighter and his family to move from out of the Camarillo home as a result. "He thought he had millions of dollars in the bank, and now he might have to start training to get back in the ring again," sais Ramirez. "He's got to support his family.
