why when defensive fighters are mentioned..hopkins is rarely mentioned??

he's one of the best defensive fighters ive ever seen...he tucks his chin better than anyone ive ever seen..he has a slick shoulder roll and is very rarely caught flush

He is a defense first, old school, dirty fighting bastard that rarely gets hit clean.

I always hear his name in conversations about defensive fighters.

Especially since moving up in weight.

If you mean why isn't he mentioned alongside Whitaker or Floyd or people like that, it's probably because he doesn't have the raw talent and flashy moves they do.

Most people give him his credit though.

he's overall better than floyd i would say because he's equally good vs orthodox and southpaws while floyd's style is made to shut down orthodox fighters only.

It the reason he's able to fight on so long and his defensive skills don't rely too much on his reflexes.

I think you could make the case then what bernard does makes him better. Bernard doesn't have that unbelievable natural athletic ability that whitaker had, or even floyd, and yet his defense you could argue is just as good if not better.
