    A seasoned veteran?

James Figg is recognized as the first official "Heavyweight Champion"...now, granted, it was the Championship of England; but the first recognized American Champ with any kind of stability didin't come around for another hundred years or so....John L. Sullivan. So, the current evolution of the sport could be looked at as simply the chickens home to roost.

Now, in my honest opionion, the only thing that will boost the populartiy of the sport in the immediate future in the U.S. is one of two things....and one, I think would be disasterous for the economy and benefit MMA moreso than boxing in the U.S. at the moment; and that is an out and out depression that would force young men to earn money any way they could, which is similar to how the "Golden age" of boxing began around the stock market crash of 1929.

The other, and more desireable solution, revolves around amateur boxing progams at high schools and colleges involving scholarships and professional scouts and short term contracts: similar to how other sports in the U.S operate, aka football, baseball, and basketball.

Farfetched, yes; but it would provide young fighters with a solid education, solid income for the first 5 or so years of their professional careers, new "sweethearts" for the public to fall in love with, provided the major networks....ABC, CBS, NBC could be provided to air tournaments on free tv exposing young fighters to young potential fans.

There's more; but i don't want to bore.

I will never like MMA. The Americans are too pampered and need to get their grit and backbone back. If Europe starts to do well, we will respond, stronger than ever.

Hahahahaha what a dumbass. Linemen are 300+ pounds of lard, how does that make a man's sport? Any sport that has any type of physical expectation is manlier than american football. (hockey, rugby, basketball, soccer, even competitve swimming)

                    Could you be more clueless?

Cleverly isn't even the future of his next visit to the bathroom - one of his stools has more star quality than he does.

Kessler doesn't beat Ward anywhere in his life. As for Bute, get real. Ward will kick that guy's ass, wait and see if they fight.

Bellew has more chance of being the dominant force at 175 then Cleverly does.
