Interesting poll...it seems the majority think the decision was fair, same as me. A very close win for taylor!
Yeah, many ppl here talkin bout the last 4 rnds but they don't talk bout the two headbutts (the first was not intensional, but the in the second one nard went straight to taylor's jaw), they don't talk bout Nady not taking point off nard, They do talk bout the judge that gave Taylor the 12, but they don't talk bout the crazy ass judge that scored the fight 116-112 to Nard...
the thing is, at the end of the day it's still a fight.
taylor looked like he was gonna be knocked out.
i'm all for a new middleweight champ but not like that.
hopkins uses "dirty" tactics all the time so, i don;t think that's a big deal.
the fact is, the rounds taylor won, were based on aggresiveness,
i don;t think he caught hopkins with anything clean (i haven't watched it again yet, so, i need to see it a few more times to be sure).
but towards the end, not only did hopkins take over, he looked like he actually hurt taylor.
so, maybe it was a matter of "too little too late" but i think hopkins did better work (so, i guess i am arguing quality over quantity).
i just think for a guy to lose his belts like that after 20 defenses isn't right.
i think most would agree had this been a 15 rd bout taylor woulda been out eventually.
it's interesting the way boxing is scored:
fighter "a" can outwork fighter "b" without doing any damage and win the round 10-9.
the next round fighter "b" can turn around and after a mostly even round knock down fighter "a" and win the round 10-9.
and those two rounds are even!
it's a fight, i wish there was some way to score quality
and not just who won x number of rounds.
dunno, maybe championship bouts need to be 15 rounds again...

just to followup, case in point:
mesi's fights against jirov and brewster (i think)
he was floored a few times at the end of the fight
after winning on points throughout the fight.
i mean, you gotta give a guy credit for boxing well
but when he get put on his ass round after round,
how is he the winner?
