He's not a damn judge, and he didn't award himself the win.
People keep acting like he's a fluke.
He stepped up to his first big fight against HOPKINS of all people, and won! I don't care if you think it was a bad decision, he got in the ring with Hopkins and did his thing.
I find it amazing that people are getting down on his style, when before people were saying he wasn't ready! Doesn't that make it all the more impressive? He is still a RAW talent that needs to be polished, yet he just took the title away from the man who held it for a DECADE.
Taylor from here will only get better, as he does in every single fight. He just keeps improving and working hard. Hell, I expected a few more fights before he even stepped up for the title.
Give the man some credit, he's a young and relatively inexperienced fighter who just stepped in the ring with the most dominant and intimidating fighter going right now.
This was a HUGE step up for Taylor, and given the circumstances, I'd say he passed this test with flying colors. Yeah, he can get sloppy, but that all comes with experience, as does learning how to pace yourself and calm yourself. When you're out there hyped up and excited, your punches drain you twice as badly. NOW he's been there, and he knows how to handle himself.
Put him in the ring with any other Middle right now, and I gaurantee an ass-whooping. Hopkins is a whole different animal, but he did what he had to do and he won the fight.
Just give him some credit already!
