If Floyd is his own boss.........

Then why does he need GBP or Don King or Al Haymon or anyone else for that matter? He did say he was his own boss correct? If so, why not negotiate his own fights?

Not a hate or flame thread. This is a serious question.

He's his own boss in terms of the 100% of the money comes to him first, a percentage of money doesn't get taken off him like it does with other fighters.

He'll then pay people around him out his own pocket.

Floyd jr needs GBP or Don King as promoters. True, he may be his own boss in that nobody tells him what to do, but arranging and promoting a fight isn't as easy as it looks.

For promoting a fight, you need to have a solid organization to arrange all the meetings, press releases, advertising, promotional materials printed, etc.

Its a serious job that requires a high degree of management skills and a competent organization/team behind you to accomplish.

Ok, but why give guys like Haymon a hefty Chunk of your net if you're a superstar and can negotiate your own fights? A fighter like Floyd doesn't really need promoting. His name speaks for itself.

im not sue if your an accountant but the logic in my analogy still applies, your a sports star making alot of money if you you handle your finances yourself or let a family member do it then youll be down the river without a paddle ala MC Hammer but, if your smart you hire competent accountant to handle your finances. I dont remember who said it but somebody rich and successful said I surround myself with ppl smarter than me. to do the jobs you are a novice at. or in the case of sports stars probably idiots at.

When you're preparing for a fight, you can't schedule interviews, plan tours and what not of view. It splits your focus.

You generally focus on doing what you're good at, and pay people to do the other parts. That's how the world works.

This is my thing. If you're gonna hire promoters to negotiate on your behalf and still not make certain fights happen, then why not just do it yourself. "Hey its me Floyd. These are my terms. Let's come to an agreement that's fair for both of us and make this happen". If Floyd has the last word anyway, Wtf does he need a negotiator for? Like Oscar stated: " Floyd is the only person that can make this fight happen"

Like somebody says when your training for a fight it's pretty damn hard to sort out tours, interviews etc by yourself, you'll get exhausted & can be a distraction to your upcoming fight.
