    Hopkins' legacy now...

I don't think it took a major blow from this close loss. But a loss is still a loss in a fight with such high stakes for him.

So now Hopkins has the chance to redeem himself in a rematch which I feel he would win. If that is the case, how do you guys see Hopkins' legacy in these scenarios:

If Hopkins would have beaten Taylor tonight?

If Hopkins beats Taylor in the rematch?

If Taylor beats Hopkins again in the rematch?

    ----------------

    I say...

If Hopkins would have beaten Taylor tonight?
top 5 mw of all time and a victory over a big strong and young opponent who had a chance to win.

If Hopkins beats Taylor in the rematch?
redeems himself and there is more cause to say his loss tonight was a bit of a "robbery". Top 4-5 mw of all time.

If Taylor beats Hopkins again in the rematch?
legacy as a top mw of all time still in tact, but another loss hurts and maybe puts him right at 5 or 6.

I guess I feel that Hopkins place is pretty secure at the edge of the top 5 mw of all time.

I think if he loses again it will be huge for his legacy. Then people could just say he lost to the only true good middleweights he faced.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Hopkins is a guy who will always have questions around him and his legacy. Both good and bad. There will be some who think he was great and some who think he was just a great matchmaker who made his name on beating up smaller and flawed guys and then some who think it was a littile of both. There will always be questions around him

His legacy is not hurt. He is 40, and held the belts for 10 years. Only loss to Roy Jones Jr. and now Taylor. He gave Taylor a chance when he didn't have to because he had more to lose and Taylor had more to gain. I say Hopkins is still one of the best boxers, but definetly a boring one that is why he will not go down in history as one of the best.
