  • Marquez-Diaz Purses + Undercards

I talked to Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Thursday and got the list of purses for the main fights on Saturday's card. Here you go: Marquez ($1 million), Diaz ($540,000), Daniel Jacobs ($200,000), Dmitry Pirog ($50,000), Robert Guerrero ($75,000), Joel Casamayor ($50,000), Linares ($30,000), Juarez ($45,000), Sakio Bika ($18,000) and Jean Paul Mendy ($12,000). Keep in mind these are the official purses as per the Nevada bout agreements, but it is common for other revenue to be paid through other streams. http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/blo...d-fight-pacman

If undercard fighters are making those types of purses, there's no absolutely no reason (except greed) why great matchups for undercards aren't always being made.

$480K for 4 competitive undercard fights? Promoters and main event fighters should take an additional $500K from their purses (evenly depending on the split), just for the undercard.

    Thanks for the numbers mate.

I agree with you, $480K seems nothing really if you look at it in perspective. Just take an even share from the ridicuous amounts of money the 2 main event fighters are receiving and you have a much better undercard.

No problem, these 2 aren't making that much, but if you take a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight promoters and main event fighters should take the $480K and an additional $500K from their purses (evenly depending on the split), just for the undercard.

****** ass promoters think they're "promoting" and giving exposure to their fighters and star prospects with those one sided fights.

People don't want to watch or remember ****** ****ing blowouts where a journeymen just quits and takes the TKO. They remember good fights and the fighters in it.

Those are official numbers from the NSAC reported by Dan Rafael.

He was a standout amateur, he's still undefeated, at a higher weight class, so his minimum is higher. I think fighters' minimums get lower after every loss too. No way they would have signed Linares and be able to pay him $30K if he didn't get knocked out.

Exactly bro. Not only are the promoters not doing their fighters any favours, they are de-populating the sports fanbase.

Hopefully this PPV does well cause Shaeffer is being a *****.

How is Shaeffer being a ***** when he put together one of the best cards in recent years?
