  • Mayweather-Cotto Update: "Mayweather only has to say 'yes' to the challenge"

    By Karl Freitag

When Floyd Mayweather recently stayed at a luxury hotel in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, and it was hinted that Floyd might hook up with WBA super welterweight world champion Miguel Cotto, fueling speculation that the the pair would meet to discuss a super fight between the two superstars. However, that meeting never took place. “A fight between Miguel and Floyd will be great for the sport and exciting for the fans around the world,” Bryan Pérez, Executive Director of Promociones Miguel Cotto told *********.com. “Mayweather only have to say ‘yes’ to the challenge.”

This fight would be pretty sweet, better than Pac-Marg

I wanted this fight 3 years ago, not so much any longer. I'd like to see Miguel put a beat down on Berto instead.

Maybe I was a little too harsh on Cotto, in making that Margarito-Pacquiao comparison. But nontheless, both fights are worthless.

Dude better not fight Cotto at this stage, for real. I have ZERO interest in this fight, at this time. The buzz for it has passed. Both need to fight others fighters. Cotto isn't the same fighter anymore.

Its quite clear what Bob is doing. He wasnt going to have Pac fight Floyd first, like a good promoter he's always going to milk the cow, no different than what he's doing with the Gamboa/Juanma situation. He knows Cabellero would probably beat Juanma and that Gamboa stands a better chance against Cabellero, so why potentially take a loss with Juanma. Why take the loss with Pac against Floyd when you can have Floyd peck his way up the ladder, starting with Miguel and ending with Pac. Maximizing the profit is the way to go for him.

I'd rather see this than Floyd be inactive but this fight isn't that appealing...to me at least

This fight would be better than no fight at all; but I just don't see Cotto making it truly competitive unless he's made some big improvements from his last few fights. Steward might be a legendary trainer, but he's not a miracle worker.

                  Wrong.

People see how good Cotto is against the best, which he is not the best
