Surprised Rab hasn't come in yet to say Carbajal's not Mexican.

Their first fight was a classic.

This was the rivalry I was thinking of, but I did think that Carbajal wasn't fully Mexican.

The first fight was epic, easily top 3 fights of the 90s... only Chavez-Taylor and Gatti-Robinson 1 compete... maybe Bowe-Holyfield 1 as well.

It left a really bad taste in my mouth though. Gonzalez kicked his ass, and then got knocked out. I hate when one punch changes a fight and makes up for round after round of dominance.

Epic rivalry and they put the original "illegal alien" mullet on the map before the rest of American society could even understand that kind of robust manliness.

That is what made Carbajal so special. For a dude that small he really had hands of stone. Even in his last fight he was getting beat by a young Jorge Arce, and carbajla came back and scored a come from behind KO. And, left the sport on a high note. What made that win better is that Arce became a pretty damn good fighter.
