Margarito vs De La Hoya at 154, in 2008

I've always wondered who would've won this, had De La Hoya have fought the Cotto-beating Margarito in December instead of Pacquiao. Did Oskie have anything left by that point, even in his own division?

Somehow I get the feeling Margarito would've fucked him up good and proper.

Idk but oscar cant stand margarito.I think he would of had more heart
had he fought margarito.I never understood why he fought manny instead
of tony.Maybe they had bad history. But i think tony at that point would
    probally ko oscar.

I think Oscar would of beat Margarito, it's a shame he didn't want the fight.

Because he thought (like almost everyone else) that Manny would be way too small for him and he'd go out with an easy win. Whereas Margarito looked like a monster at the time.

Both men despise each other, it would of been such a huge fight, both got a legion of fans and Tony's stock was soaring after the Cotto fight. Financially it would of been a success and it would of been a great action fight. I have no doubt Tony would of stopped Oscar then.

I would have picked Oscar to stop him at 154. Part of Margarito's success is his size advantage at 147 against much smaller opposition. He wouldn't get that luxury against the bigger much stronger Oscar at 154. Oscar isn't gonna back into the ropes, he'll stand his ground, and I see Margarito gettin' stopped with a series of left hooks. Oscar is a good finisher.

                Margarito would've stopped him.

When I think of the oscar who beat Mayorga I see Oscar stopping him, but real talk at 147 or 154 or wherever, pacquiao would kick Oscars ass all over the ring, and if Oscar could no longer pull the trigger and fight a high paced fight, margarito might have beat him to a UD or even a corner stoppage. I wish this fight had hapened, but I was happy as a clam seing little pacquiao annihilate Oscar.

                    tough one to call

marg may have stopped him but de la hoya has a great jab if he used it he may have pulled of a unanimous decision

i'm trying to remember how oscar looked in the forbes fight at least he would've been fighting margarito at a more natural weight for him at that stage in his career instead of killing himself to make 147

really could've gone either way margarito's defense is pratically none existent and oscar can really punch but would've been able to keep tony of him

who ever came to the fight more determined on fight night would've won that's the only way i can put it lol
