  • Comments Thread For: Pacquiao-Margarito: Abu Dhabi Asks For Additional Time

Abu Dhabi, one of the cities interested in hosting pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao’s showdown with Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC light middleweight title on November 13 has asked for an extension of two days before deciding on a proposal submitted by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz. And so now it's taxes.

Why did they not say so outright and at the onset? Why leave fans twisting in the wind?

I can't imagine that not talking about taxes can make any kind of difference with the IRS. Taxman will collect whether one talks about taxes or not. NBA, MLB,NFL players talk about spreading the collection of their paychecks over long periods to reduce the tax bite...

      Ryann:

"how is cancelling a fight that would make him $50 million a good business decision?

why risk pac losing to marg?

why not strike while the demand for this fight is this high?

why shut up all his critics and fight the fight everyone wants?

      its cause of one reason...

      the man has no balls"

Also in response to Fcastro1, who was DYING to know my answer, but didn't say a DAMN WORD when he got it.
Just resposting this because I spent more than 5 minutes writing it and won't let my time have gone to waste.

      WARNING:
MANY *******S WILL SEE THIS AND RUN AWAY BECAUSE IT'S "TOO MUCH" TO READ

ALSO, IT WILL MAKE SO MUCH SENSE THAT IT GOES AGAINST THEIR IDIOTIC WAY OF THINKING.

Your the only ******* so far that has some semblance of intelligence, so I'll break it down to you in a way that doesn't cause you get a headache

By Floyd deciding to wait next year for the fight, he'll get a bigger share of the purse........................why you ask?

because he knows Pac vs Plasterito and Pac vs. Cotto will do **** in PPV revenue.

Many mainstream fans don't know who Plasterito is and the ones who do know who he is, know he's a cheating P.O.S.

Only flips and drunk mexicans would pay for that ****, when the smart motherf***ers can just watch a stream of that joke of a fight.

Pac vs. Cotto won't do NEARLY as good as the first fight with 1.2 million PPV buys.

No one is going to pay to see Pac do the same to Cotto. Why? it's pointless

Once Pac is done with either or both of those guys, he'll have even less leverage in the negotiations the third time around.

If Pac can't even break at least a million PPV buys in both fights, the little guy will be lucky to get 30% of the purse (and that's if Floyd is feeling generous)

After all, it's Arum/Team Pac who said that "they didn't need Floyd".

So this guy is calling their bluff. and daring them to fight other in-house fighters. It's so obvious, except to the small minded who can't think beyond their eye brows.

Floyd will get AT LEAST 60-70 million and all he has to do is enjoy his vacation and wait for next year

That's one hell of a pay raise, just to sit on your ass and relax while the other guy is fighting has-beens for peanut$.

That's all this guy know's is BOXING and $MONEY$.
You'd have to be clinically ******ed to think he'll pass up that kind of retirement pay day.

And I know your ****** if you think this "Super Fight" won't have at least the same demand, if not more. By making the world wait, it's just adds to the demand.

Like making a horny girl wait a little longer, she'll want you just that much more.

****, I'd let dumb ass MOFO's call me scared, gay, chicken, runner all they want if it means earning 65 million+ in one night's work. (that's not even counting the % FM will get from the PPV buys)

Understand that boxing is a business and that's ALL these guys fight for.

Not respect, glory, etc. That all comes second to these guys.

Even Pac, who didn't want to fight Floyd at first because he would be getting the smaller % and his EGO couldn't take it.

But you *******s are so dumb, that you can't think this is possible because you think the man is scared.

      Scared of what?

A fast midget who has proven to have real problems with skilled, technical counter punchers.

Imagine how much harder of a time Pac will have with Mayweather's defense.

the economy is way in debt and taxes are gonna go up for the wealthy, if lil floyd wants to fight for the most money, he needs to fight this year cuz taxes are very likely to go up in the future

            This is how Arum works.

He announces their is a fight Nov 13 between Pac-Margarito. Then we find out that no actual contracts have been signed.

He then negotiates with Abu Dhabi by threatening/dangling Mexico in their face.

Does any of this sound familiar?..."We want Mayweather, but there is always Margarito and Cotto..." Pac has agreed to everything...but no contract has been signed"

Next thing you know there will be an Abu Dhabi countdown clock on Top Rank's website.

If Floyd Sr excuses is about tax, how about Pacquiao v Mayweather happening in Mexico or a 'Thrilla in Manila 2' in the Philippines where there's no tax in boxing.
