I sure hope Mayweather-Pacquiao doesn't end up among those big fights that never occurred.
The best HW fight that fans were robbed of in the 90s was Bowe-Lewis. However, in terms of money and mainstream appeal, Tyson-Foreman might be the biggest fight ever that never took place.
There was quite a bit of talk about this in the early 90s. Foreman turned down $5 million in 1989 because he wanted more money. He said he was "more scared of Don King than Mike Tyson". After Douglas beat Tyson, there was Foreman-Rodriguez/Tyson-Tillman on the same card, Arum & King working together, and naturally people talked about the two of them squaring off. I've read articles on ESB about Tyson being reluctant to face Foreman. Not sure if that's true or if that's just talk.
But I can only imagine how huge of an event it would have been. Tyson was one of the biggest stars in the world. Foreman sure could promote and sell himself, hell he made nine figures off that grill by putting on that smile.
