/\/\/\ If Barrett fights anything like he did with Wlad then he will get destroyed by Vitaly. Wlad tottaly humiliated Monte. But that was 5 years ago....

This is why you should be careful where you get your news. Here is a credible article on the situation; I don't know what the **** ********** is:

WBC rules against Klitschko in heavyweight title mess

      July 15, 2005
CHICAGO (AFP) - World Boxing Council officials ruled that injured heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko must defend his crown against next month's Hasim Rahman-Monte Barrett interim title fight winner.

The decision was a victory for promoter Don King, who pressed all week for the ruling that effectively puts the Ukranian fighter's future into his hands, giving him effective control over all major heavyweight title belts.

Rahman and Barrett, both Americans backed by King, fight here on August 13 and the WBC ruled in Mexico City that Klitschko - idled by back and thigh injuries - must fight the winner instead of meeting another rival Setepmber 24.

WBC rules allow a champion one delay from facing a mandatory foe, an exemption Klitschko used to face Britain's Danny Williams last December in his most recent bout and only title defense.

Former champion Rahman beat Australian Kali Meehan last November to become the top-rated WBC contender but planned fights on April 30, June 18 and July 23 were all wiped out because Klitschko was injured.

Klitschko would lose 10 percent of the prize money if allowed to fight an optional foe on September 24 by King, with Klitschko or his conqueror then ordered to face the Rahman-Barrett winner before the end of the year.

Should King deny Klitschko that fight, the WBC statement said, the Rahman-Barrett winner would have to be ready to fight six to eight weeks after their bout, September 24 to October 8.

Wladimir Klitschko, the champion's brother, lost a court bid this week in which he wanted to be named the mandatory challenger to another King-backed US heavyweight champion, Chris Byrd of the International Boxing Federation.

Puerto Rico's John Ruiz, also promoted by King, owns the World Boxing Association title.

I wonder if the extra 10% will be enough to change their mind...
I think it will be. Looks like a win/win situation to me, Barr/man (whichever) gets two more months to train, plus an additional 10%. If I'm them, the only way I don't make the deal is if I really think Brock is gonna win, which would totally **** up the payday.

Whoa, neils, I read the article that started the thread, which states that a step-aside deal could be made, allowing Vitali to fight Brock in Sept.

If he's going to have to defend by the end of the year, why would he fight an undefeated prospect as a "stay busy fight".

Vitali should schedule a bum, or at least a guy who doesn't deserve his top 15 rank by the WBC

Agreed, but doesn't he have a "deal in principle" to fight Brock?

EXACTLY! Don't ya love it? Boxing is so wonderfully corrupt and brutally honest at the same time.

I think Vitali beats Brock, but after a big layoff and a hungry, talented opponent - fighting Rahman less than 90 days later could backfire if Brock shows up like I think he will...

THANK GOD!! im happy Vitali is forced to fight Rahman so he can make all these dumbass people happy. Vitali wil win that fight in th 6th round on a TKO cause Rahman will get beaten real bad. Rahman does not deserve to fight for a championship at all
