Cotto is a dead man walking when talking about a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather.. Seriously, I am really oppose to this fight. There is no argument I will accept or want to hear as to why this fight should happen.

    My answer is "NO"

I have been reading a few articles and a few threads trying to hype this bout up...and I genuinely feel and think this match up to be completely absurd..!

No Real Mayweather fan "IMO" should want this fight.
With Mayweather fighting in his last days of his career, I do not want to see him fight the likes of Miguel Cotto when he should be focusing on trying to make a Manny Pacquiao fight happen.
The only top rank fighter I want to see Mayweather fight is Manny Pacquiao.. the rest of those guys is worthless when talking about a potential match-up with Mayweather,

FIGHT Manny Pacquiao or Leave Top Rank alone is my belief, there is no other reason to deal with Bob Arum unless it has to do with Pacquiao.
Win or Lose on November 13th. I want to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao
next year. Not Mayweather vs. Cotto/Margarito/ any other top rank fighter...

I agree. ONce PBF has fought Pac, and lost to him, or even beaten him. He can fight whoever he wants to from then onwards.
If he thinks a shot Cotto would look good on his CV well go for it. If Khan seems appealing to him go for it. Also a rematch with hatton.

He wont get any credit from a lot of people.

I have seen a number of anti-mayweather people saying that Cotto-Mayweather would still be a good fight and that Cotto would still give him problems.

IMO mayweather easily outboxes Cotto, always would have and certainly would in 2010. The aftermath will be a repeat of what happened with Mosley-Mayweather, the people who said Mayweather would never fight Mosley had all kinds of excuses after Mayweather dominated him.

Mayweather dominates Cotto and the people saying now that it would be a good fight wont give him credit.

Legacy wise, the best fight for Mayweather will be Martinez. A win over him, the guy who whooped Williams and Pavlik, would be great for Mayweather. He could face him at 160 and claim the ring middleweight title. Martinez isnt that big and he fights with his hands low. He has poor defense because he relies on his speed but Mayweather has the speed to catch him and make him pay for his poor fundamentals. It would be a great fight.

lol at horus being a dumbass. cotto would beat marquez, rather easily. they would fight a ww, and marquez is too old and slow to be effective there. he's not taking gear, so he doesnt increase in power and/or speed with the weight gain. he said that himself, so argue with him.

lol at undercover ***** trying to convince public to be against cotto-may. cotto would be one of may's toughest opponents, maybe the toughest at ww. and yes, tougher than the aged mosley.

Cotto would represent Mayweather's greatest challenge in over 5-6 years

Its silly to say that Cotto has 0 chance. Mayweather fights at a pace and style that is comfortable for Miguel Cotto. I'm not saying Cotto will win, but it won't be a white wash. Mayweather has faced extremely soft competition and hasn't fought anyone credible (except DLH ...just barely credible).

Mayweather has fought either past prime fighters or smaller fighters since his move to ''elite'' status. If Mayweather even had the cojones to step into the ring with Miguel, I would give him tremendous respect.

I think its high time we start saying that Mayweather is extremely overrated right now. Until he fights someone more capable, these fantasy fights he's always winning just keep overrating him.

Cotto and Mayweather can fight 100 fights in a row. "IMO" in out of those 100 fights between Him and Mayweather..

He would not win 1 fight. He just isnt built to win against a fighter like Mayweather.

The fight doesnt interest me. Knowing what I know about Cotto.

The only way this fight is acceptable is if Cotto somehows knocks out Margarito, and Pacquiao within 5 rounds in back to back fights..
and he wins the rematches... then I can Justify to myself this fight is credible. because obviously at that point cotto change something drastically in his fighting style. Because as of right now, he doesnt have the ability to do what is required for him to be a credible opponent in my eyes,
Cotto wouldnt win 1 rpund agaisnt Mayweather.
There's a little something dribbling out of your mouth..

It's foolish to think Cotto won't last all 12 with Mayweather, what's worse is Pac is 10x the offensive force Mayweather is and that's the only way to stop Cotto. Don't kid yourself, it's Mayweather who has very little chance of stopping Cotto's stalking. He has the probability of winning on his side but he won't stop Cotto from stalking him. He's not an old, hesitant Mosley.

i agree about may not stopping cotto. he wouldnt/cant. and op is right about no real mayweather fan wanting to see may fight cotto, cause no real mayweather fan wants to see may lose. Cotto has all the tools to beat may, including trainer. one of mays biggest weaknesses would would be the jab, and cotto has a hard, crisp jab. may likes to lean his head back, to avoid shots. well guess what, cotto is focusing on the body. may will either expose his body and hide his head, or he will get caught with punches to the head. itll be a tough, tough night for may, who may even earn his legacy, or will be exposed, and all these may nuthuggers will deny ever rooting for the guy.

edit: not saying its nuthuggin to root for the guy, but it is nuthuggin to say cotto has no chance, that cotto would be mays weakest opponent, marquez would beat cotto, etc...

LMFAO HORUS saying FLOYD MAYWEATHER's best win is over a SHOT fighter, look at this:

Now that Cotto is now in the spotlight and boxing is looking towards him to replace Floyd. He has left himself no room to grow as a fighter...

No More Unproven Contenders Like Gomez,
No More Past their Prime Old Fighters Mosely in which He barely Wins..
No More fighting non active fighters like Judah
He now has to fight Prime,Active, Young , P4P, Highly ranked Fighters....
There is no more grace time.....The Time is Now....
And His First Test is Margarito....
Remember Cotto has never had to beat a Champion For his Title...He has always fought fellow contenders for vacant titles....

I have been seeing this coming though, but the commentators on HBO are just commenting on the good things they see. Instead of the little things he does wrong that champions will see and will counter, and will not miss. He still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches. Sometimes he punches from too far out and leaves gaps where he can be countered or beaten to the punch.

                    • Zab Judah Show you how to counter him....
                    • Shane Mosley show you how to pressure him
                    • Demarcus Corely Show you how to accurately hit him...

and Margarito will Probably show how can he handle being hurt by somebody who can finish the job
And all those fighters all had defaults in their game....Either they were too old, primes their prime, not active before fighting him, or basic contenders.....

Margarito is none of the above.
Margarito is not past his prime, he is active before fighting cotto, and he is not a contender.

Margarito is a fighter, Fighters like Cotto and Williams get credit for.

Steward,Merchant and Lampley make and made Cotto out to be some phenom, because he's KO'd a bunch of lightweights, contenders, and Past their prime fighters
when they know he's starving to make the weight.

I am not saying Cotto doesn't have a chance against Prime Young P4P Fighters
but he still might be too green to face the guy that His Fans and Arum are expecting Cotto to now fight.
He still has very good skills, power, and a lot of heart, that will keep in the fights. Unfortunately, he still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches.

                    ...
If i'd be you, i'd STFU. You can replace Cotto with Mayweather in your post coz Cotto had the balls to fight real WW threats like Clottey, Margarito, Mosley(2005), Pacquiao and Quintana. Mayweather was the one who fought shot fighters( DLH), old lightweights( Marquez) and D level fighters( Gatti).

If there is a fraud his name is Floyd Joy Mayweather. Junior.

No way Floyd has 100% of winning against Cotto. Floyd's offense is NOTHING like Pacquiao's. Pacquiao's offense is MUCH more violent and unpredictable.

Some of these ppl are crazy acting like Cotto would just get blown out by Floyd who would be too terrified of getting hurt to commit to anything to get him out of there even if he did have the power to which he doesn't.

Its a serious challenge and maybe would be Floyd's best win depending on how he looks, Cotto is a world class fighter.
