When training for a fight you don't go easy on your sparring partners, that's what they are there for. I think it's an excellent choice by Roach considering Jr. and Marg are similar in size and dimensions.

Your sparring partners are incredibly important when training for a fight.

it's gonna help pac out by getting used to punching a 160lb body. Jr. also needs to smother him to get ready for that pressure from Margo.

Jr. doesn't gain much from fighting a lighter boxer, with more speed who he won't catch up to anyway.

Becoming a sparring partner can sometimes have a negative effect on a fighter.

Sorta like Corely when he became a sparring partner for Mayweather.

His career took a nose dive.

Getting beat up by Pac on a weekly basis could have a negative effect.

          I guess we'll see.

dude be realistic pac is a natural 140 lber, he aint gonna do **** to jr hes too fokken small, if anything ittl help jr reflexes due to pacs speed,jr will light up pac with jabs and right crosses, if jmm did that all night long why wouldnt a younger stronger jr do that with a 74 inch reach??????you guys buy into all they hype, pac really hasnt fought a pnd for pnd caliber guy since jmm, if it were berto vs pac it would sell a lot more but that would be a very dangerous fight for pac they dont want dangerous they want big name liitle danger, thats what pacs last 5 opponents have been.

jmm is even slower than jr look what happened there pac got handily outpunched speed and all.pac power wont affect a 160lber with a good chin jr isnt the best but hes a lot better than all u dudes give him credit for , duddy was no slouch i for one didnt think jr would do that well against duddy.if pac was as good as u guys give him credit for he wouldnt be fighting no margarito.why pick the easiest lightweight, or the easiest welterweight and now the easest jr middle its absurd .pacs defense is **** anyway jr will land at will just look at the clottey fight clottey lost every rnd and still beat tha hell outta pac he looked like a loser at the end.

Jr. has the size of Margarito and his style is similar. Good choice for a sparring partner.

man, you really have to learn the difference between timing and speed.

JMM, even though he's not the fastest, has always had impeccable timing. He was at his absolute prime against Pac. And even 4 years later, his timing was superior.

If you saw the Clottey/Pac fight....Pac was purposely leaving himself open and begging Clottey to open up. He didn't even feign a defense in that bout.

                    LAY OFF Jr..........

Jr. can fight, PERIOD!!! So, stop with the negative press already. The J.D. fight sho8uld have told you guys how serious he is about boxing. The kid has been in the gym since he was 3yrs.old and you can tell. He's going to keep progressing and prove you idiots wrong. What REAL fan isn't excited about how good he could potentially be? He can compete with any top 160 pound fighter right now. And he keeps growing! He'll end up at 168 before it's all said and done. THE KID CAN FIGHT! Just remember this........he didn't have not 1 amateur fight. He went right to the pros.

                      Good post.......

Hey man. GOOD POST here. These guys are crazy with their lack of boxing knowledge sometimes. MARQUEZ was at his peak during the two MANNY wars. However, I am one of the many who thinks that he is a much better fighter now and a complete one that would most likely stop MARQUEZ now. The scary thing about those two fights is that MANNY wasn't even a complete fighter yet. He wasn't smart yet. He didn't understand what timing meant in a boxing ring. LOOK AT HIM NOW! What a fighter he is. LoL. At this stage, I don't even want to see a third fight because I know what would happen. MARQUEZ is just looking for one more big pay day. He KNOWS how good MANNY is now. As for Jr. He will be around for a long time. He is a very good and technically sound fighter. For a guy who never fought one amateur fight, he knows how to fight naturally. All these idiots are talking negative for no reason at all. Like him or not, any REAL boxing fan has to be excited about how could he can be one day. You agree?
