Comments Thread For: Juanma: "Marquez is The Man, Not Gamboa or Caballero"

WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez is very excited about the biggest fight of his career on September 18 in Las Vegas against Mexican star Rafael Marquez. There will be a lot of history and pride on the line when Lopez steps in there to meet Marquez. He wanted a fight with Marquez since entering the pro ranks after the 2004 Olympics in Athens. There should be a lot of Mexican fans at the MGM Grand who are coming to the event from nearby California. Lopez will have Puerto Rican legend Felix "Tito" Trinidad at his side for the show.

I don't think anyone will forget about Caballero or Gamboa.

Did he really say that?!? - Fighting Gamboa will define his career. Fighting Marquez might give him the marquee name on his resume, but the true test lies with Gamboa and/or Caballero.

I thought Lopez was decent in the Concepcion fight, but I say Gamboa beats Lopez decisively.

Juanma just wants the name and the big money, I hope he gets around to fighting Caballero or Gamboa. Caballero is pretty damn big for his weight class, he will likely move up if he needs to.

There's plenty of time for him to face Gamboa, both are still young fighters. Caballero should have happened at 122 but at 126 Caballero has done nothing so he's not that important until he proves he's worth a shot at Juanma.

                    Juanma ain't duckin nobody

I notice people are sayin that Lopez is ducking caba....let's think before we talk folks... No one can say juanma has been put in against soft opposition first off... Who has more star or network appeal? Caballero or R. Marquez? If you answered Caba you've been livin in a cave for the past 5 years. I'm not doubting the Caba's talent... And why rush Gamboa vs Juanma- let it build , like the way big fights are supposed to happen. It's to early to say he's ducking anyone at this point
