Just a thought
Boxing is gaining an ugly reputation today. The sport is tainted with ducking, PEDs usage, great fights not happening in consideration of PPV and promoter’s conflict, politicking and other issues that hurt it.
Is it because boxing is considered as more of a business than a sport? In plain common sense, boxing wouldn’t survive without money flowing in it. But it doesn’t mean that people in the boxing world should be blinded by business-first attitude. Boxing should bring the fans what they want, no matter what are the conflicts, as these fans are the real reason why this sport survives the age.
How could boxing brings back it glorious era?
Probably there is this Super 6 tournament that can be emulated of. Bring the top 6 of various weight divisions to face each other. Regardless of the promotions they are under of, belts they are holding, and purses they are expecting, make them enter an agreement to give the fans the fight they deserve to watch.
How would it happen and who will begin? I have no idea, but I think time will come when the fans get hungry to see great fights and take the cudgel to ask the boxing world to give us fights where the best boxers meet their fists and give us the treat are money is worth for.
