Obviously, we aren't getting Pac vs Mayweather and Pac already has an opponent for Nov 13th(Margarito). IMO its going to be a entertaining fight, but not that competitve. In addition to that fight, these are the 10 fights I would make to ensure that 2010 doesn't go down as one of the worst years in boxing history.
1) Mayweather vs Cotto 154 Title:
This is a fight boxing fans have wanted to see for years. I know Cotto isn't the fighter who use to be, but he looked pretty good against Foreman. I think having it at 154 for Cotto's title makes it more competitve. Also, if Floyd fights Cotto like he did Mosely meaning he stands his ground and comes forward, it will be to Cotto's advantage and give him a solid chance of winning or at least making it competitive.
2) Martinez vs Williams 160 Title:
First fight was a classic and Williams got the nod even though most felt Martinez won. This time it would be for the undisputed middleweight championship. Nuff said
3) Berto vs Clottey 147:
It looks like Berto will be left out of the big fights this go around, so he needs a legitimate fight and Clottey sure hell ain't doing nothing. I think this would be a huge test for Berto and we would see if he could hang with an elite welterweight. His toughest fight was against Collazo and IMO Clottey is a step above Luis.
4) Khan vs Marquez 140:
Assuming Marquez gets past Juan Diaz, I think this would be a tought fight for Amir. Amir would have great physical advantages in this fight, but Marquez's heart and ring IQ would allow him to be very competitive. Floyd used his great physical advantages to dominate Marquez, but Floyd is a defensive minded fighter as Khan is a come forward, offensive minded fighter. That style will give Marquez the opportunity to do what he does best, counter punch.
5) Bradley vs Madiana 140:
It just seems like the right time for this fight. Its time to seperate the good from the great in the Junior welterweight division. IMO Bradley would be the heavy favorite, but Madiana punches like Mike Tyson and would never be out of the fight.
6) Judah vs Ortiz 140:
This fight we tell us if Zab has one more run in him or if Victor has really rebounded from that beating he took from Madiana. Zab would be throwing heat in that ring and if Victor's jaw is really made of glass, Super Zab will shatter that ****!!!(Not a Judah fan)
7) Hopkins vs Dawson 175:
Who else are they going to fight? B-Hop's idea of going to heavyweight is insane and since the super 6 is happening, Chad will need a big name to step in the ring with. Hopkins has always proved us wrong in the past and I don't put it by the old man to do it in this fight either.
8) Pavlik vs Bute 168:
Pavlik wants to make the move to 168 and both of them don't have any worth while options due to the Super Six. I would favor Bute because of his speed and movement, but Bute has folded in the past and Pavlik posseses the kind of punching power to make him do it again.
9) Angulo vs Vanes Martirosyan 154:
This fight would help seperate the contenders from the pretenders in the 154 pound division. It would be a contrast of styles with Angulo's constant pressure and Vanes' boxing ability. Vanes real showed me a lot against Greene and I would like to see if he could hang with a beast like Perro.
10) Devon Alexander vs ?????????:
This is the last "star" I don't have a fight for. In my scenario, every top 140 pounder has an opponent. He's already facing Kotelnik and most of the guys rated below Kotenlik, Devon has already beaten. Why take a step back anyway? He could move up to welterweight, but most of those guys already have fights on my list. I was thinking Luis Collazo would be a good test for Devon. Mike Jones is there, but I think Jones has to get more fights under his belt before facing that level of fighter.
There's my gameplan fellows. Like I said, boxing needs a strong close to this year because 2010 has blown balls so far. Like always, feedback would be appreciated.
