The fate of heavyweight Alexander Povetkin will be decided next week, says International Boxing Federation (IBF) president Daryl Peoples. The IBF president spoke with Russian reporter Alexander Pavlov and explained the reasons behind Povetkin losing his opportunity to fight IBF/IBO/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko on September 11 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Teddy Atlas won't let Povetkin fight for the title until he knows he can not only win it, but keep it for a long time too.

      That's old school.

you really think this was done intentionally because Atlas wants more time to prepare his manid like to know more about this SLAVE CONTRACT that they offered to him because many boxers have now complained about Klitschko contracts

Povetkin is about to be 31, he's a Gold medalist and he wasn't fed very many soft touches early in his career. If he isn't ready now, then when?

These slave contracts are usually rematch clauses of some sort. These guys are afraid of rematches in the event that they win, they rather run with the gold.

you cant add a rematch clause to a mandatory fight. The "slave" contract consisted of details like free tickets, type of gloves and thats about it.

I think there is a more sinister reason why Atlas will not allow his fighter to fight one of the Klit brothers. I believe it is simply because Atlas hates the brothers so much that his ego will not allow a fighter of his to lose to one them. And he knows that is exactly what would happen regardless of how many more tune up fights Povetkin might have. I would bet good money that there would be no hesitation on the part of Atlas if Povetkin was in line to fight Haye for the WBA belt instead of Wlad or Vitali. And I use to like Atlas but in my opinion he has become rather bizarre.

The fight went to purse bid.

                  The winnig bidder was K2.

The contender have sign the contract no negotiations are possible.!!!!!

Why Team Povetkin could not just say "we are not interested in the fight right now? This story sucks. And the story title is "Povetkin, Haye, Valuev - the best people in the division (after Klitschkos of course) lost their balls".
