it doesnt matter who you are a fan of thats not right to be able to call yourself a division champion if you cant win the belt at the division limit. if pacquiao wins a belt at 154 and margarito or cotto have to come down to 150 lbs. its bull****. its clearly handicapping and weakening the opponent intentionally and if pacquiao wins the belt at the catch weight and then comes time to defend it and its another catch weight or he cherrypicks an opponent because he claims hes too small to fight certain people in the division how the hell could you consider him to be the champion? he is not a real welterweight champion and he wont be a real 154lb champ either if he fights for it at a catch weight.

As of now, Floyd has fought a higher percentage of his fights at a catchweight. I guess that would make him Floyd "The Ultimate Catchweight King" Mayweather. Oh, btw, he didn't even make the weight.

Anyway, catchweight is also fine with me just to see the *****s increase their blood pressure up to 200/150 would be hilarious. Seriously, Pac from flyweight up to featherweight already considered HOF by many. From featherweight up to welterweight that made him atg. He can retire now and still greater than Floyd many miles. Yes sir, catchweights shouldn't be allowed in title fights. A non-title fight is cool but you start bending the rules like that then you really can't say a fighter is as great as Henry Armstrong b/c Armstrong didn't know what the hell a catchweight was.

If Mayweather wants the middleweight crown he should go threw hell 2 get it, Martinez was 167 and Pavlik was damn near 180 pounds on fight night.

a lot of exaggeration in this thread. pacman has had only one catchweight fight. its quite an achievement that he's even fighting at welterweight. the real catch weight king would have to be bernard hopkins who has had at least 3 catchweight fights. even somebody like ray leonard could claim that title. he fought in more catchweight fights than manny.

its not "quite the achiecement" he shoudl have moved up to WW a while ago. but instead. he was draining himself so he could fight smaller men at lower weight classes. while floyd had the talent and skill to move up, be the smaller guy and still win.

obviously pac couldnt do that. and still, pacs not fighting viable oponenets. rather hes fighting guys that struggle on the scale and on the downsidesof their careers,rather than the up
