  • Can Freddie Roach Save Mike Tyson?

The story of Iron Mike Tyson is a famous one. Most people will agree that PART of the downfall of Mike Tyson was his decision to scrap Kevin Rooney as his trainer, the last connection he had to the Cus Damato world. After scrapping Rooney, that is when Mike went with Don King and other scrupoulous characters who took Mike down a downward spiral of destruction, of course Mike is responsible for his own actions as well but who you associate with can also influence you. So now we have Mike Tyson a shell of his former self: bankrupt, skills eroded, glory gone, mansions gone, aura gone. BUT WAIT! There is hope because Iron Mike has a new trainer in Freddie Roach. Gone is the old destructive entourage, replaced my task master and disciple of boxing Freddie Roach. Freddie Roach is all business and his stable also includes James Toney as well as Pacman. And he has told Mike if he is not serious about making a comeback "don't waste my time". This is someone Mike needs someone who won't take shyt from him, and teach him some discipline. So do you think Freddie Roach can return Mike to Heavyweight Contendership and possibly the title? Or is Iron Mike so far gone that God himself couldn't save him?.....your thoughts please.

Roach was in his corner for the Williams fight.
Roach can't teach Mike to stop being such a frontrunner.
Mike could execute all of Roach's training, brilliantly, but if the opposition isn't cooperating (meaning, knocked out)....Tyson's inner ***** negates all that he's learned.

I'm giving Mike the benefit of the doubt for the Williams fight because of what happened to his knee in that fight. I'd like to see Mike fight one more time, this way i can see if Roach has been helping or if he's on his way down

He's on his way down no matter what you see.
How can you possibly think otherwise ?
He's nearly forty, a mental wreck, & has taken some serious ass-beatings.

Tyson is simply a side show now. He is like a poor (or rich?) man's Butterbean.

Non boxing fans will still pay for his fights, so there is still money on the table for him.

His chances of being a legitimate heavyweight contender are all but over.

As he gets older, the quality of opposition that beats him will diminish before he retires for good after losing to Ali's equivalent to Berbick

i am giving tyson the benefit of the doubt becuase he messed up his knee in his last fight so he really couldnt fight. if he loses one more time I can say for a fact he is truly finished.
