    ARUM & MAYWEATHER Finally Agree

    I'm not mad at Arum. I'm really not.

    Yeah, I have been talking **** about the prospective Pacquiao-Margarito fight, but that's only because it rattles the peasants (and they're so feeble-minded, aren't they?). In reality, what Bob Arum is saying is true. From a business standpoint: why should he give other promoters' fighters a free ride on Pac's coattails.

    Pac/Arum has made it to the big time with smarts, hard work, boxing talent and a bit of luck (yeah, and steroids and catchweights, too). Why should Arum put his diamond at risk against some fighter whose promoter failed to properly invest in him? Arum acknowledges that Pac-Marg or Pac-Cotto 2 is unappealing to many...but it is the smart business play. I agree with him.

    The question is , why didn't Slippery Bob apply that same logic when Floyd had hit the big time, and 'Ole Bob was trying to give Margarito a free ride on Floyd's coattails. Yeah, same situation. At the time, Arum had done NOTHING to promote Tony. Arum mentioned that Shaw puts his fighters in "Indian casinos". Well, when Arum wanted to offer Floyd a fight, Margarito had just come off selling 25K PPV buys in a half-filled room at - wait for it - The Aladdin. Indian casinos laugh at the Aladdin.

    Bob had "offered" Floyd an $8 million purse? Well, I'm sure that Goossen or Shaw would gladly "Offer" Pacquiao $10 million to face Williams or Timmy. Hell, King would "offer" $15 million to face Devon.

    So, it's good to see that Arum has learned a thing or two from Floyd. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

      Blame Arum for Floyd not fighting guys like Cotto and Margacheato years ago because he was greedy. ****** not to make a fight over 2M, when the fight would've sold and done good numbers.

        he first tried to make Margarito/FLOYD while Floyd was still being promoted by him. The second time MARGO had been ranked #1 by ring for a couple years at WW under the lineal champ. You dont really know much about the things you write about. its pathetic.

            Arum's only had one legit chance of making the fight when Floyd was with him because Floyd didn't want to do business with him after the buyout. They had bad blood and Floyd didn't want to do any deals after Arum didn't pay him and disrespected him.

            Arum offered him 8M each to Margacheato and Cotto, Floyd asked for 10M each. He also wanted 15M to fight DLH and Arum said he would never get 15M to fight DLH. The same **** happened with Hatton.

              How could Margarito be ranked #1 when Zab passed the belt to Baldomir?

              Please tell me where in this chain was Marg the top WW:

              Oscar => Shane => Vernon => Rico => Cory =>Zab => TaTa => Floyd

              Nah, never mind. You haven't been following the sport that long.

                Great article, I dislike Arum but when I think about it he's very smart and I would proberbly do the same kind of things in his position. It's just smart business, When he was promoting Floyd he said he was the greatest since Ali and now he says simular things about Manny.

                The things I dont like is when he says things like "Floyd hasnt tested himself, Why not fight Margarito or Cotto?". He basically makes himself look ****** by saying things like this because he was promoting Floyd and Cotto when they were both champions at 140. But he didnt make the fight because he realised Cotto would be his biggest draw when Floyd leaves (Something that I think he anticipated long before it happened).
