Oh God, Cotto really had surgery.

Somebody said it the other day, but I didn't believe him because a) that guy only had a single post b) he didn't have a source.

Rough translation: "Miguel had surgery done on his right shoulder, but it should not have any effect on his performance in a possible rematch against Pacquiao, who is also considering Antonio Margarito as a possible opponent." According to a toprank post on his facebook page.

Jeez, as if his right hand wasn't useless enough already. Sorry if old, maybe I missed a formal thread in the sea of threads humiliating Mayweather.

I haven't read this, so thanks.

Seems unlikely he would fight pac anyways.

Sometimes surgery can have a positive effect on an athlete. His right hand was not very effective and having surgery could of fixed the problem. The surgery imo could change his opponent. Nov/Dec was supposed to be a big name for Miguel but maybe now we will get a lower tier opponent and next June get one of the big names of the sport.

Never heard of this..but he was in a pretty bad car accident early in his career and had numerous surgeries performed because of it..

I'm sure it's got something to do with the car accident injury still..

I also remember the guy that posted this on his first post as well, if he's injured he has no business in either of those fights right now.

He should definitely take an easy fight then which I think he should have done anyway.

he hurt his shoulder in the second round of the foreman fight. that's why he stopped throwing the right hand. steward has been working a lot to develop the straight right of cotto so he can use it more in a fight. for whatever reason during his career he only focused on the left hook and stopped throwing the right hand.

U sure it was during the Foreman fight (did he actually say it)? I thought it was just that old injury acting up. I remember reading somewhere that the reason he fights orthodox despite being a southpaw was because of that car accident.

If the surgery works out, we might see him switching southpaw more often. That would be a longshot though.

well maybe that old injury had something to do, but yes he said in an interview (i don't remember exactly which interview or where i saw it) that he hurt his right shoulder in the foreman fight.
