Your example oversimplifies the point. You are right I may call it a negotiaition but that would not be negotiaition in the sense Bob made it seem and Johnny Cingas is interpreting.
In January, both sides agreed to have a neutral arbitrator to finalize certain issues. The sides met together. They had been talking together. That is the definition of negotiation.
Ross was not there to mediate face to face talks, he is there as a representative of HBO, who is interested in showing the fight. He, in his own words, was "ACTING AS A NEGOTIATOR BETWEEN THE CAMPS". That is not the same. If it was, Bob wouldn't of found it necessary to make the distinction when he spoke on the conference call.Comment

how do you defend floyd for not even putting one bit of effort into making this fight. And how do you defend him taking another vacation after his big speech about regaining his crown and having a hitlist. How do you defend him after accusing pac of steroids and cleaning up the sport and when the fight is there he doesn't even mention those things and wants a break.Comment

whatever greenburg did between arum and haymon, it obviously passed haymon's standards because he then pass it on to floyd. as his advisor, if he knew it wouldn't why would he do it? next question is if that deal wasn't amenable to floyd, why sit on it for a week or so? maybe it met floyd's demands, but floyd just suddenly had a different reason?Comment

How do you know the effort either guy put in Fcastro1? See what I mean unsubstantiated opinion. As for the vacation after the hitlist, I mean is that really a big deal to you? As far as the PED accusations and then taking a break, my guess is he has decided he won't show manny any respect. So? Why does that bother you so much?Comment

Mediation has both sides at the table and an independent arbitrtator. By bob's own admission this didn't occur.
Just accept the fact that when Bob said negotiaitions in the press release you immediately thought of the dictionary definition and assumed the sides met to discuss it. Then when Bob indicated what really happened. he talked to ross and ross talked to Al. Clearly not a negotiation or a mediation. Ross was a go between or a mule.
Floyd fans didn't do this to you. Stop blaming us for the fact that Bob clearly overstated what really happened.
Just accept the fact that Floyd, once again, acted like he wanted to fight a particular guy, but made every excuse not to.
Stop blaming boxing fans for wanting to see the best matchups.Comment
