Comments Thread For: Ivan Calderon-Giovanni Segura For August 28 in PR?

According to boxing manager Ricky Mota, who represents WBA junior flyweight champion Giovanni Segura (24-1, 20KOs), that his fighter has just signed a contract to fight on August 28 in Puerto Rico against WBO champion Ivan Calderon (34-0, 6KOs) in a unification fight. We are still waiting for confirmation on the side of Calderon. The fight would have to get approval from the WBA and the WBO, but that's usually not a problem when a unification fight is presented.

I thought segura had a fight in two weeks against Manuel Vargas? Also I thought Ivan had a mandatory to take care of in Casimero?

Calderon is a chicken. He won't fight the best and most dangerous light flyweight.

The Casimero fight got cancelled do to Casimero not fighting his tune up in time, he fights I think it's this weekend and he wouldn't have enough time to prepare to fight Calderon one month later, so he cancelled and Segura probably prefers to unify than to fight Vargas. The fight will happen trust me.

The best light flyweight is named Ivan Calderon he beat the guy who beat the guy in Hugo Cazares, following Calderon is Segura and he is not that dangerous I mean he got thoroughly outboxed by Cesar Canchila, imagine what Calderon will do to him.
