Yet NONE OF THEM ARE SCHEDULED TO FKN FIGHT EACHOTHER
FK MAN WHY DIDNT VALUUEV KLITSHCKOS HAPPEN 10 FKN YEARS AGO: WTF
Wlad is fighting Povetkin on Sept. 11th, I think, and alot of these guys have fought each other. Valuev has face Haye and Chagaev. Either Wlad or Vitali have beaten Chagaev, Chambers, Arreola, and Peter. So that isn't completely true. Although I would like to see Haye step up and fight a Klit brother or Adamek.
No the real problem is that the Klits are the best but can't fight each other. Can't blame them because who would want to brutalize their own family? The rest of the division sucks. I can't even name one good HW fighter under 25 off the top of my head. Until there is some new blood to challenge the Klits the div will continue to be ignored.
A lot of people don't see their bias in that a major reason they don't enjoy the HW division is because there is no good American HW.
I don't understand why so many HWs are out of shape though. I don't think it's coincidence that the Klits and Haye are the most IN-SHAPE HWs and also the biggest names in the HW division. These guys need to stop eating Mcdonalds after every training session. How someone can stay fat training for a sport as rigorous as boxing is beyond me.
The Heavyweight division is not only the most boring division in the sport but it also is the least talented division in the sport. It doesn't deserve any respect what so ever. The Klits are talented but the rest of the division is absolute dog piss.
The heavyweights that are coming thorugh are vastly inferior to the ones produced in previous generations. The fact that these poor fighters are easily contenders shows how poor the division is.
The eastern european fighters cant be that good if many of them are losing to the poorly conditioned American fighters.
America produces the most technically gifted boxers, without top quality Americans any weight division will struggle. The exception being the weight classes with Mexican and other latino fighters.
As Mexicans and latinos dont really produce that many top quality fighters in the higher weight classes, the heavyweight division is only likely to recover or get respect when America starts producing top quality heavyweights.
Vitali, Wlad, Haye and Adamek may have been contenders in previous eras but then thats it, after them there is a real shortage of talent.
The real problem is that the best fight Wlad vs Haye wont be made because Haye wants to milk his title for another year.
One fight does not make a good division, the problem is the only athletic big fighters are the Klitschkos the rest of the division are fat or blown up cruiserweights.
The Heavyweights may not be the most eye pleasing group of characters, but I think it's time we stop selling this division short. There are alot of up and comers, as well as some very solid vets populating this division.
To name a few
Vitali Klitschko
Wlad Klitschko
David Haye
Alex Povetkin
Sam Peter
Nikolai Valuev
Tomasz Adamek
Chris Arreola
Ruslan Chagaev
Eddie Chambers
Now, granted, some of these names are not as good as the others, and the Klitschkos still stand above the rest, but there are alot of good matchups(skill wise) that can still be made within the division. There's also vets in the division who I didn't mention.
I'm not saying the heavies are the best division, or even top 2 or 3. But I think it gets alot more hate than it deserves because the majority of heavies are not American. That makes it harder to get interested in them, but it shouldn't be a reason to look down on them skill-wise. If you look at the names, this group is certainly better than some other lists of top heavies that have existed with the past 20-30 years.
As always, other opinions are more than welcome. Let me know what you think about this point of view.
Sorry, but when Povetkin is number four on your list, you know the division is pretty much the worst it's ever been. Guy's only undefeated because he never fights. Only the Klitschko's could even contend in other eras, but neither would be champion in any era other than this one.
