Yes this is true. Floyd is trying to be the biggest star in the world and get his name out. What other boxer has done **** like go on dancing with the stars, WWE and rapping with 50 Cent? Hes trying to appeal to every type of person out thereComment

A lot of floyd fans became his fans when he was in 130 and 135Comment

Smh...
I love watching these types of punch evasion skills
It's art. It's a lot easier to hit something than make your opponent totally whiff on most of his punches. It's a rare skill that I could watch over and over
Being defensive is just a new fad that's killing combat sports. Fighters of the old days were always encouraged to be exciting.... win the crowd! get the big purse. Be dynamic. BE EXCITING -Cus D'amato.
It's easier to dodge and evade a punch than it is to land one. If I have defense first in mind..... And the other poor bloke has been trolled into making an exciting fight.... or he comes out to KO me. I'll beat him. I can throw 10 punches a round. Pick my shots... and evade the rest of his punches with my hands down. It's a lot easier than to reach out, risk getting hit and punching him in the face. Defense first, John Ruiz can win a world title with his boring ass defense first clinching style.
I am a state wrestling champ in college. it's always easier to defend a take-down than it is to execute a take-down. Same thing. If a dude decides to take the floyd mayweather, defense first approach.... all he'd do is come out low and stuff everyone's take-downs.Comment

I'm impressed with his skills. Not just his formidable boxing skills, but also his ability to piss people off. To piss them off so much that they sit at home and and type up essays about how and why they don't like him.
I can't bring myself the hate the guy. There's no reason for it. He fights to make money. He fights to win. And he wins. It's not the gritty, bloody slugfests that make highlight reels, but those guys pay a heavy price for those wars. And those wars tend to happen because they don't have the skills to avoid them.
Mayweather wasn't born with Mike Tyson's physical gifts. He doesn't have knock out power. He makes do with what he has, which is quickness and adaptability. So what if it's not going to be replay material decades laterl. I doubt that was ever his intention in the first place. I doubt Miguel Cotto goes into a fight thinking: "I hope they replay this fight on ESPN2 in twenty years." He goes in with the same mindset everyone else does - to win and get paid.
He'll probably keep doing what he's been doing. It's working. It sells tickets. It sells PPV buys. Even if people are watching to see him lose, he's still getting paid.
Edit: Before you call me a *****, just know that I'm actually a pretty big fan of Manny Pacquiao.Last edited by ForemanGrill; 07-21-2010, 12:00 AM.Comment

If you've done any combat sport training.... you'll know that it's easier to defend than it is to be offensive.

If it were easy, everybody would do it. Why do you care why he has fans anyway? What's your stake on it?
Go back and jerk off to Mike Tyson tapes and any other blood & guts fighter, me, I appreciate a little bit of everything, which is what a true boxing fan is.
Defensive fighters, offensive fighters, the aggressive ones, fighters who have no punching power but manage to win with their skill etc,. You clearly are a one-dimensional fight fan.Comment

Making a professional boxer whiff on 20 power punches in a round is 10 times harder than getting 20 jabs inComment
