What did Larry Merchant meant about Zab Judahs background???

I was watching zab judah vs floyd mayweather and larry merchant was saying that floyd is gonna beat him because Zabs hasent been schooled in the traditional art of boxing rather he has a style that is reliant on his athletic ability.


When larry was saying his dad was a former kickboxing champion he said the word kickboxing with such a disgust and hate.


So what I am wondering is that is zab judah not trained in boxing properly??? Because to me his stance and movement is that of a boxer seeing that he does not square up

Floyd has more fundamentals while Zab relies more on his athletic ability. Which is not necessarily a bad thing...Roy Jones relied entirely on his athleticism and he was very successful.

But isnt zab considerd one of the most technical fighters in the game??

I mean dude has an awesome footwork, nice crisp punches, good snappy jab and keeps his hands and keeps himself tucked in during exchanges and when he fought migule cotto he never squared up,always pivoed his front foot to avoid squaring up and etc...

To me he seems like a super technical fighter as well as fast ofcourse
